yeah it's exactly what i want to hear from lupe. there's a little bit of aes rock in his flow on there, which makes sense since lupe said aesop was his favorite rapper of all time pretty recently.

i'm almost positive it's just something he did to build hype for drogas wave and won't be on that album though, since the beat is from "everything burrito" by michael christmas and he asked permission from the producer just to upload it on soundcloud

original track the beat was used on for anyone who hasn't heard it

yeah sure observe, if you say so. i'm on crack, even though lupe has tweeted multiple times that he's a huge aesop fan and that aesop is his favorite rapper. yet somehow it's completely farfetched that aes would have any influence on lupe, right? i'm specifically talking about 2:00-2:15. i get it though, that's your whole shtick. you think aesop rock is a wack ass cac rapper and you probably don't even believe that lupe actually likes his music. you're salty because you don't like aesop and that's okay, but just to be clear aesop has been making music for way longer than lupe.

i don't think you even know what trolling is, which explains why you're so terrible at it.

please explain, how would giving an "unknown rapper" (lol) that he doesn't like more exposure by praising their music be considered trolling?

man, that lupe fiasco fella sure likes trolling huh? he can't fool me though, i see right through his feeble attempts at trickery. there's no way he could actually like a filthy CAC honkey rapper like aesop rock - get real.

"why would he say that"

why would he say what? why would he have an opinion and share it on social media? beats me man, your guess is as good as mine.

in all seriousness, i don't think it's that difficult to see why aes and lupe would fuck with each others music. the fact that you find that weird is honestly pretty surprising to me. maybe lupe just respects abstract/dense lyricism.

Lulz at all the heads shocked that Lupe gave Aesop a shout out on Twitter. Aesop been a staple in the genre for two decades. I know it's unfathomable to some but there are times when commercial and underground can co-exist together.

aesop has been rapping since the mid 90s observe. he dropped music for earthworms in 1997 and appleseed in 1999 before lupe ever started putting out music, even the early gangsta rap influenced stuff with da pak. you can look all of this up if you really want to, the information is out there. not that any of this matters at much anyway, i'm just letting you know that aesop isn't some new unknown white rapper who showed up out of nowhere.

^^Lots of mcs were rappin in jr high..but lupe didnt put out a meaningful record until 06 and honestly hes only gotten worse since while aes has steadily improved not to mention hes produced his last two. Solo albums primarily by himself. Learn to admit when your wrong and maybe you could save yourself from looking like a jackass.

i don't even understand what you're trying to prove here observe. it wouldn't matter if lupe fiasco burst out his mother's womb rapping "the breaks" by kurtis blow. that's a moot point. aesop released his first two albums years before lupe ever put out a project. you specifically said "lupe was rapping like that before aesop rock came onto the scene.", which is completely false. just take the L and move on.

fuck i was not trying to be a hardcore hater. i just see no comparison between lupe and rock. weird combo. am i really the only one who think's that? but prop's to lupe, in this day and age, that he want's to work with a devil(white person). lol. sarcasm.

to be honest i'll never expect another good album from lupe. not that he doesnt have the talent, but he's too influenced by garbage these day's. i guess any way to make a dollar, right? windy city gotta come back with that real shit. drill is dead, have u not heard? no one care's about drill music. what i care about is head's like juice, common, do or die(erly shit), da brat(few track's) etc....

is anyone ever gonna step up in chi and really kill it soon? cuz the scene is almost dead.

really? you don't see how they're similar AT ALL? or why they might be a fan of each other's music?

both of them are known for putting out conceptual and cohesive albums with abstract/dense lyrics, vivid imagery, intricate wordplay. both are also great storytellers.

i think that would be more than enough of a reason for one rapper to be a fan of or respect another, but the similarities don't end there. going beyond just music:

they're both unapologetically weird and include a lot of anime, comic books, movie, video game, etc references in their music. lupe is also obsessed with street fighter and metal gear solid.

both of them skateboard. even though there's always been people who were skeptical about lupe's affinity for skateboarding ever since kick push dropped he's at least shown that he has an interest in the culture

both of them have a lot of love/respect for all types of art, not just music. aesop went to school for visual arts and draws/paints, or used to anyway. he's also good friends with guys like alex pardee, jeremy fish, and aryz who have done tatoos and album artwork for him. lupe paints and had his own art exhibit last year.

all things considered they'd probably get along great.

The entire second verse has Aesop Rock's influence all over it.

Notice Observe been staying out of this thread since he got grandfathered in it.
