A disappointing thing about illmatic was that halftime was out 2 years prior to the album and it aint hard to tell was a few months old when the album dropped and had been played to death so we only got 7 new tracks with the album and “one time for your mind” is just a moderately ill track. its a top 10 but not #1 for ‘94 imo.

my favorite album from this year (dare iz a darkside) definitely isn't going to win, which kinda sucks...but i hope it gets some love. that album is just flat out phenomenal. the best redman album by a mile and one of the most unique and interesting records of that time period. it's weird, but weird in the best sense.

probably gonna play that shit all day today.

with that said, illmatic is winning, im 100% sure.

it was pretty anti climatic when we only got 7 new tracks and thats the albums only weakness is not enough tracks

and throwing a two year old song onto the album seems a bit cheap to me

yall go ahead and vote it aoty now!

found the group I was thinking of. it was Lyrical Lunatics - Jazz n*ggaz. but apparently the bootleg album released under that name was wrong and the group name was in fact Mental Castawayz.

good stuff anyway
