this year was horrendous...

I don't think I still actively listen to a single album mentioned here.

ob4cl2 was dope when released, but I listened to it a month or so ago, and I didn't think it was nearly as good. skipped through half the album....the beats are really boring on there.

relapse is cool for an occasional listen and I really dig some of em's wordplay on there, but again it's an album I skip around on these days.

in search of stoney Jackson, us, and in the ruff were probably my favorite records from the year....I think stoney Jackson won on this site back in '09.

it does seem a little weaker than some of the other years in that decade, but it definitely wasn't bad imo. honestly a bunch of albums dropped that year that i still listen to regularly. some of it is definitely nostalgia though, 2009 was my senior year of high school and i remember bumping a lot of these while driving around with friends.

Some might not consider this an album, but it has 9 songs which is the same as some albums nominated in the past.

i keep my itunes tags correct for the most part, so it's easy to just sort my library by year and go through it. i've also made lists on rateyourmusic that i refer to. i've got a pretty good memory of the majory releases from the last decade or so.

no frontin here! online a lot. gotta check up on the dates of certain albums, look for stuff i forgot about, look for shit i missed etc. not a knowledge contest for me.

some post 2000 albums stick out as a certain year but most albums from 86-97 i can name the year instantly just from being young back then and obsessed.

rate your music and discogs are the best sites for checking albums, years, best of lists etc. discogs is a goldmine and has almost everything.

I don't know what you're trying to show here...I did preface my point about that album by saying I thought it was dope when released. i guess now it just sounds dated and my tastes have changed a bit in the last 8 years. eh, whatever....people here are acting like it's some incredible, classic piece of work. i remember a lot of people hating on it when it released....

I think we've been spoiled with some of the prior years we've done, especially 2001 and 2003 as they were loaded with top shelf albums. No albums nominated really stand out above the rest, except for maybe Relapse or Born Like This, so hopefully that means the voting is going to be close.

^I don't mind it for two reasons. One is it bloats the amount of albums to be voted on which allows me to do four rounds of 50 albums. Second it puts me onto albums I've either never heard or never heard before so i end up checking some out.

As far as Relapse goes, id be shocked if it made the finals. With that being said, there's a few heads on here that dig it that i wasn't aware of. Graph and Observe are two that come to mind.
