OK so sipping this pg tips tea reading these bits about marciano and Muggs working together and it got me thinking...

Was Dj Muggs the first hip hop producer to bring white samples into Ughh? Looking back when cypress hill emerged and Muggs was dropping samples into hip hop from black sabbath etc. Was he the first to change up the common theme of what people sampled?

We all know dre sampled ultimate breaks and beats alot which is why he was annoyed at Tarrie B as she spoke the truth on that I think she either got beat up by dre or Eazy e about that

no joke, this is the stupidest shit i've read in 2017. bluestratoss is irl the sean spicer of our board.

it's like this guy started listening to rap last year. it's preposterous that his knowledge is still so limited that he thought this was a legitimate question. i mean, think about it, this guy actually thought this was worthy of a thread. how is he still so in the dark about the history of hip hop?

I'll jump in line to shit on OP. All threads suck balls and when he tries to shit on Crumple it's completely unfunny every single time.

That corny fucking Bill Murry joke he used to drop in every single Crumple thread made me cringe everytime.

weird thread for sure. many group's sampled or worked with white dude's before this. i will say though, and i know a lot of eastcoast cat's will hate this, but muggs is 100% responsible for rza's sound. muggs started that grimey, dusty sounding shit. and rza admit's he was his biggest influence musically.

i think that's way more relevant than the original question or thread.

Kraze, perfect observation you hit nail on the head, it was his choice of samples that changed the scene

uuuh... so you agree with kraze's comment that implies that your original post is wildly uninformed and inaccurate? he said there were tonnes of honkey samples before muggs, whereas you said there weren't. how are you agreeing with him while also disagreeing with him?

or are you now trying to piggie back on to kraze's muggs-influenced-rza comment, as if you were somehow poorly trying to say something similar in the OP, even though that's not at all what you were trying to say in the OP.

Kraze makes a valid point about Muggs changing the east coast, and his sound was NEW and he sampled from New sources, hence changing the game up and changing what people then sampled, I mean look at edan and what he samples, if it was not for Muggs people would not have branched out as far sample wise he changed the culture period

i love how you're trying to front about what you initially said, like no big deal.

"his sound was NEW and he sampled from New sources"

is the backpeddaled version of this doozy of a statement:

"the first producer to bring white samples"

It's typical of some of you to be so pedantic in response, OK Rick Robin samples whatever but compare what Rick sampled to what Muggs sampled, totally different sound and Muggs had a very wide impact on the Scene purely down to his type / choice of samples. Kraze gets my point but there's no need to over analyse and ' muddy the waters to make them seem deep' which most of you try to do when ever I make observations about Hiphop

Yo clock, who samples what is no joking matter, if samples intrigue you it's quite an important element of hip hop.

I stand by what I said about Muggs, people can be pedantic about who sampled what first but to base there whole style around those sample themes and then influence Hiphop making that wider impact is important and well worth the discussion.

So your point about alchemist, you know what? Maybe he wasn't the first but he def has his part of the spectrum of music he samples from and he has his own style so yes he could be the first in that sense, to make it HIS and his style.

lol, but you specifically started the thread with inaccurately saying muggs was the first to sample honkeys.

you can't have a serious conversation about producers and their samples, and start it off with something so hilariously false. you cannot have it both ways. you stand by what you said? jesus christ, this guy's blinding pride is unbearable.

Look i can't fit the entire topic / point into the thread title can I? Then read the Main thread my point is explained (ie Was he the first to change up the common theme of what people sampled?)

As Kraze has stated, yes, based upon the sample choices of Muggs he seta standard and in turn created a new style, hense the words FIRST so quit trying to derail a valid fucking observation
