This is a promo trailer for the upcoming album from Kool G Rap. This song is not featured on the album "Return of the Don"

^ which seems a bit pointless if its promoting an LP its not on

either way am a huge G rap fan but tbh his last effort I have hardly spun but will pick this up

can't find that vid with G vapin' with that terrible young kid, can someone post it up?

Roots of Evil has a lot of lackluster beats and some horrible features.

G should do an album produced by The Alchemist ASAP!

The Godfathers with Necro is his best stuff since 4,5,6. Too bad they only put 2 verses a song.

im expecting more fantastical pseudo thug ramblings and predictable multis over average beats. we will see.

he was dope on that godfathers/necro album though.

g rap cant pick beats or do albums since right after 4,5,6 and even 4,5,6,was average.

he peaked in 1990 on wanted dead or alive and has since 1996 done a great job at making money off his rep and average output

at sc- yeah g rap and nas tryin to do some commercial shit! nas did well later on that way- weak ass catalogue nas.

4,5,6, had a few snore fests.was the first album where g rap chose slow beats and started to go more thug. lol. b.o.t.e.

^ couldn't disagree with you more no mask

4,5,6, has some weak parts, the remix breaks up the cohesion and Money On My Brain seems oddly out of place but its a great LP..........and I know Wanted Dead or Alive is your favorite but that is spoilt for me by the Money In The Bank being an absolute stormin' track but its edited? Erase Racism having Biz just sing the hook spoils it.....but that is also a great LP.

G can still spit, he has slowed down and lost that hunger evident in his earlier stuff, and Roots Of Evil did have some bad features, but there is also great stuff on there. Fast Life is dope how Nas and G trade lyrics old school style, and yeah beat is a bit jiggy but I still like that track. That Necro Lp was good too and had its moments.

Hopefully this will be good, will check it for sure

The album with Necro was meh because Necro decided to rap on it.

Perfect example...

Grimy, raw serial killer beat that fits G Rap perfectly. Then Necro decides to spit some jewels on it...

'John lil Wayne Gacey killing fat bitches like Macy Gray'

'Load up the mack attack a McDonalds and whack you while you eat your Big Mac'

some_text

G Rap can still spit so going to come down to the production as to if this is DAFFY or WAFFY.

at semeone- i have always argued this with these points:

-only 8 dope tracks on 4,5,6 after the 2 remixes, intro and weak "money on my brain" but wanted has 12 ill tracks!

-a few boring beats on 4,5,6,(for da brothers, ghetto knows)with most being slow beats where as on wanted: dead or alive the production is more well rounded,a bunch of hype higher tempo joints. better production over all handled by eric b,large pro, marly marl,g rap & polo.

-Wanted dead or alive is more well rounded in G raps subject matter and style. has some positive content where as 4,5,6 is a bit cookie cutter thug shit.

- better features on wanted dead (large pro, freddie foxxx, biz & big daddy)

-deluxe edition with remixes and instrumentals of wanted dead or alive is crazy- 4,5,6,offered no deluxe

-4,5,6-not as ground breaking or important to hip hop imo.

some really hard, raw tracks on 4,5,6- a must have for sure but to me it lacks overall as an album.

at clock, yeah necro can be cringeworthy if rapping on more than a feature or two of a project. my biggest beef is how every song just has one verse from g and then one verse from necro, after the first 7 or 8 songs i grew tired of this "had to be mailed in" formula. good rhyming duo's like m.o.p even czarface mix it up and pass the mic back and forth a bit, but this was just bad lol

lol barely used copy on my discogs for anyone who feels different about it.

This new one is even more of a desperate cashgrab with a crackhead producer and crackheads feats sans Nore, Mega, Sheek and P.

http://www.complex.com/music/2013/02/dj-muggs-tells-all-the-stories-behind-his-classic-records-part-2/kool-g-rap-real-life

i recently read this interview with muggs.

DJ Muggs: “I was in New York, and we got in the studio, and he just kind of chilled out, and was kickin’ it with some girl in the other room, and really didn’t write nothing. And then Mike Heron, who was the A&R guy at that time for Rawkus, he was dope, was like, ‘Yo, I would’ve told you that you can’t work with G Rap like that. It’s a waste of your studio time.’ So I was like, ‘Can you get the vocals done for me?’ Because I had to go back to L.A.

“You know, everybody has the way they work. And I guess he does his thing the way he does his thing. So I sent the reel, and [Mike] got the vocals done for me. And he sent them back to me, and I was like, ‘Damn!’ He fucking killed it. The more I talk to people through the years, this song comes up as one of their favorite records.

“Then, I gave him beats like that for his next album, but Rawkus wanted to give him some commercial shit. You heard that album. It was like, garbage. They should’ve just stuck with [who he is]. He ain’t a pretty dude. They tried to make him all glamorous and it’s like, ‘Come on. It’s Kool G Rap, dog.’ I gave him some sick shit, but they never used any of the songs.”

what a fucking shame. if the two had done a whole project together around that time, along the line of what they did with real life, would have been a classic. instead g rap did giancana story.
