no, if i couldn't afford a cd i would just download the album online and burn it. wasn't really collecting music at that time so having the real thing didnt matter to me at all.

i did steal pokemon cards from kmart when i was a kid though

I went HAM when i was 13 years old. First one ever was Dangerous Minds soundtrack. I remember being chased on my bike by K-Mart security after taking the Batman Forever soundtrack and Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill.

I've stolen like 20,000 cds . Used to steal like 30 a day and sell em to record stores

You have to steal double disc because they don't put the sensor inside. Once I cleared all the rock, pop, Rnb, reggae , jazz, blues country out the stores all that was left was easy listening and classical , shit got no money

Gotta remember that was '95 when all that shit was hella popular. My hip hop fanboism was on the cusp of kicking in but a few months from full blown fanatic.

I remember my boy cut off one of those long CD security cases with a fireplace poker while we were walking through the isles of Caldor. Think the CD was Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute.

For the long cases you use a dime or Penney and turn the slots

For the short cases you use a nail And bend the 6 tabs

naw never cd's always been a vinyl man

but I used to steal food all the time, like snacks when I walked home from school. The local store had 2 doors, one in one out, but real close to each other....I went in, filled my bag with biscuits chocolate bars shit like that, and then turned round and just slipped out the out door, the end of the aisle was wide enough to get through....never got caught

my other local store had a good selection of porn mags, this is pre-internet that shit was gold. The woman there always on the phone, always talking loads of shit to her friends. I would go up to the mags, grab one or 2 depending what I was wearing, push it down my front of my waist and under my tee, jacket whatever, then just grab some cheap comic and pay for that. both arms free, no worries. After the homies had had enough of that shit I got my lil' bro to sell them at school, shit was bananas such a greedy market

when D&D was in at school I swung by the local toy store, I could spend 20-30 mins in there filling up my plastic bags, they were expensive. I got loads, boxsets and shit, then I would just grab a cheap one and pay for it. I made it look like I was having a hard time choosing....then sell them shits....I still got a stack I could eBay now, it was so easy I couldn't help it

every saturday me and the boys would hit town, boosting always on the menu. The only time I got caught was when I tried to refund a radio controlled Subaru rally car this kid had brought. He was the same age as us, but his pop was with him and got him it...it was expensive. we tailed them, the kid kept leaving it unattended as he browsed some more shit no doubts his parents would get him....so I swooped in, 5 mins later asking for a refund at the shop they got it from, it was $100+ this was 84'-85 so a lot of dough for me at that age. The kid shows up with his pop, the homies were hanging back and went ghost, I jetted for the door, it was in a basement up some steps. Big football game that day, a bit of the old ultra violence so a lot of Police around, as I ran out with staff and the kids father in hot pursuit ran straight into 2 cops....damn. Spent the day in the cells with all the brawlers from the game, but they brought my story I had found it in the street, didnt want it and went for a refund, they let me off with a warning.
I used to work in a well known store that sold everything. While there i used to get Nintendo carts like a mofo, I used rubber bands to strap them round my legs and break the boxes down flat. man they were expensive to buy, I was on the alcohol dept and had the key to the lock up in the warehouse where they stored the expensive champagnes etc....also the console games and cds, but the cd's were safe, they had a wack selection. After I left, my homie still worked there in electricals. they had these big cheap tv's on sale, he got one out the box, dumped it in warehouse, and put in a top of the line PC, and 2 DVD players, then re-sealed it. I went in, picked up the "tv", paid $200 or so for it. ater we both had a DVD player each (DVD just came out) and sold the PC for $600....damn the shit we got out of there, everyone including management was at it...I caught some in the lock up filling up a big box of cd's, games, alcohol. Then they would leave it in the warehouse, the old guy who did the papers always returned the unsold ones, he would wheel his trolley along, pick up the box, out to the returns in the yard, pop the box in his car. later they would meet up and share shit out....after I caught them they were taking out my SNES games so no more rubber bands "lol"

Steal only from shops and businesses after that, never done homes and only that 1 spoilt kid, would never rob people either. But I can't justify it, it was stealing and it was fun, the error of youth. Paint, well....that should be free to writers anyway.

But back to OP', CDs no...when you are young there is no real comeback if you get caught so fuck it crime pays.

Never stole a single thing from a store in my life if I'm being honest, but I did rob houses when I was a teenager. Me and buddy used to kick in doors when all the other kids were at school and clean out their houses, eventually, I got fairly good at picking locks. We would clean out an entire house, all the electronics, jewelry, anything worth money, and this fucking pawn shop would literally only give us $60 a pop because they knew the shit was boosted and we had no other way to get rid of it. Those were the real criminals in my humble opinion.

Obviously

But then upgraded the operation, TQ's album was like 4 in one shop and 18 in hmv so would buy like 10 of it and then take them in and exchange for whatever I wanted. You didn't need a receipt or anything back then if it looked untouched

Nah Prof, not for stealing at least. Me and a bunch of the dudes I used to run with were crazy wild as teens and the local police department put together a small taskforce to deal with our shit so for a while there they were fucking following us and cracking down on us whenever they could. They eventually got me on an assault and tried to give me 2 to 5. Thankfully it was my first offense and I got off with a little less than a year. I stopped doing all that stupid shit after that.

I was the king of tape stealing. Hitting the mall up at school lunch hour with friends and we did it all the time. Used to break those long cases over my knee and the tape would pop out or slide the whole long deterent case up my sleeves. Not many alarms back then and they used to keep a bunch of tapes on the wall with no cases on them so they were easy. Got caught once by crazy beefed up rent a cop sprinters chased me like 200 yards down a path on a cliff basically, through a train yard and had to do community service at a library for a month. Used to roll magazines up while a was pretending to read another one and slide them up my sleeve. Stole the source, rap pages and 4080 monthly, bought some too though and bought over 200 tapes too so i did lots of supporting too. For cds when that started i Started pinning my shirt to the inside of my jacket so i could easily dump those long cases down my half zipped jacket. When alarms got widespread i had a little razor blade i would cut the alarm stickers off with while pretending to check out the cd. All true, great times, adrenaline and they were charging way to much for imports anyways.
