Daughtersblouse is the most overrated crew of all time. As individual wrappers they've all had their moments but no chemistry whatsoever as a group.

a terrible group. they're all too similar.

ortiz was the unique rapper out of these guys, but it feels like he took a backseat, when he joined this group. none of these guys were ever consistent at picking beats, so it was kind of doomed from the start. if they had some sort of producer running the group - like rza with wu or even da beatminerz with boot camp - it might have been different.

however, with all that said, you could make a pretty nice compilation out of the best SH tracks.

It wasn't an album but rather labeled a mixtape. House Rules is by far my favorite collective release from them. I think all of these guys are impressive AF when it comes to MCing but their full lengths have been the stuff disappointing Shady releases are made of.

whether or not i agree with your opinion on how good those albums are, it still doesn't mean they were a good fit as a group. it's like if wu-tang was just inspectah deck, u-god, masta killa, and then the wu-tang equivalent of joe budden's insufferably emotional persona.

royce is better than those three wu members, but he's nowhere near the wu members i didn't mention here.

slaughterhouse lacked character. crooked i and royce are straight lyricists, joell ortiz took a back seat, and joe budden was the "leader". he was supposed to be the "character" in the group, but he's so hamfisted with his raps, listening to him is like watching a soap opera. so, in the end, budden was the x factor, and he fucked it up. he could have made them great, but he wasn't the right guy for the position. plus, they had no producer, and all suck at picking beats, so that's a huge factor, as well.

lack of leadership/character/variety, and lack of consistent beats = SH is one of the biggest disappointments of the last decade, considering the hype.

i mean, just look at how wack that album cover even is. there was so much hype for that album, and that's the cover they chose? jfc. you can just tell that artwork was a joe budden decision. the artwork metaphorically represents the group's failings.

lol

dont act like joe's red wing hat isn't perfectly sized and beard isn't dope af edged up on that koch cover, take your x factor and shove it x pac

these were just four really good rappin dudes who decided to do some actual raw bar hip hop at a time when shit was getting really corny at the level they were at somewhere in the middle of mainstream and underground. maybe they didn't live up to our ughh life fan boy expectations but if you don't like buddens last two albums or any of the stuff that these guys been making then shits just not for you, doesn't mean its wack by any means. these dudes would eat your favorite rappers ass, any day of the week..

and sydney tippi jean would love it

lol, uh, okay, let's go through this crazy comment, beat by beat:

these were just four really good rappin dudes who decided to do some actual raw bar hip hop

that means they could make a good freestyle cypher or a good posse cut (which they did both), but that doesn't mean they'd be a good group. you need more than just "good rappin dudes" to make a good group. inspectah deck, u-god, and masta killa were good rappin dudes, but they didn't make the wu-tang what it was.

maybe they didn't live up to our ughh life fan boy expectations

i don't think it was just ughh's expectations. everyone was let down by the album. it was pretty universally accepted as a big disappointment, when it came out.

if you don't like buddens last two albums...then shits just not for you, doesn't mean its wack by any means.

i could say the same thing to you, though. just because you liked it, doesn't mean it's good by any means. joe budden's albums haven't been that successful, ever. he had some popular mixtapes, but that's about it. he stays on the underground radar mainly for his intentionally coordinated controversies/beefs/reality tv appearances. he hasn't been notable for his music in perhaps ever.

these dudes would eat your favorite rappers ass, any day of the week..

lol, eseph, i don't think this sentence came out the way you meant it to. the one getting their ass eaten is usually the dominant participant, and the one doing the eating is usually the submissive one.

Royce >>> Crooked > Budden/Ortiz

Just cause they're all good individual emcees doesn't mean they'll have cohesiveness as a group.

Our House is one of the worst post 2010 albums.

This was the only performance I missed at the Breaks in Chicago.

I purposefully skipped them.

I decided to meet Immortal Technique instead.

The Battle Cry (Just Blaze) Joell Ortiz is straight fucking fire. Check out that track it popped up on my Spotify the other day at the gym I was like holy shit. Why the fuck doesn’t this guy rhyme like this all the time. Clearly his best shit better than Bodega Chronicles and that shit was dope.
