...just received my copy of the new dj krush ... never been the biggest fan of this guy although I own lots of his albums but "cosmic yard" is beautiful low-fi future jazz:

nothing this man has ever done could be categorized as straight forward but this is a safer album for people trying to get into experimental jazz or spiritual jazz or free or watever the fuck this dude put out. thers def an uneasy-ness to this like all of his music but its nice. i cant imagine the amount of drugs that floated in this dudes head to make the shit he made. over 150 albums tho is impressive as fuck for someone who was prolly insane.

...and one of the greatest live sets ever recorded, miles davis' "cellar door sessions":

...jack dejohnette on drums, gary bartz on sax, keith jarrett on keys, percussions by airto morreira, john mclaughlin on electric guitar, michael henderson on e-bass, plus miles on trumpet - you couldn't find a better line-up in 1970!

^^^thats a disgusting ensemble i fuckin love all those guys. john mclaughlin is incredible.

looking at sun ra attire, im totally connecting the dots that its super similar to the shit kool keith wears on stage. thinking of keiths career hes def the sun ra of rap music.

alfredo, are you into tony williams? his performance with miles was incredible, especially at this young age ... but with 1969's "emergency", he raised the bar and inspired lots of progressive jazz/fusion artists to add rock elements...

...williams on drums, mclaughlin on guitar and organist larry young - what an ill line-up! I fuckin' love this album even though williams' vocals are hard to tolerate sometimes, haha

believe it or not, sun ra was actually against drugs

he lived by his own monastatic code - no drugs, no alcohol, no women (as far as anyone knew, sun ra was asexual) and the wanted the musicians he hired to live by these same rules lol. i guess he didn't eat much food either, and fed the arkestra this vegetarian mixture called "moon stew" which would last for days.

sun ra definitely had some type of undiagnosed mental illness, and he surrounded himself with people who embraced the eccentricities which pushed the music even further. dude's whole life and philosophy was fascinating.

i never got the hype for vakill. he's so boring.

been a while since i've listened to this. every time i revisit it, i've forgotten how much i enjoy it. quality release that's relatively unknown. it's too bad this guy disappeared after this one. fav tracks: poppin' wheelies, angels

the nothing's first release in two years. unfortunately, it's just a bunch of leftover tracks from 2014-16 sessions, and has a bunch of rapping over it. lame! i got so excited when i saw the e-mail, lol. oh well. maybe he'll put out the instro version. doubt it, though, given his track record.

woke up far too early but listened to these

^^^the joint with talib kweli has an amazing j dilla beat. this album surprised the shit outta me, i was never much of an akrobatik fan and i only got this yesterday cuz it was so cheap but i was more than impressed by how complete this album was and the beats were very good.

^^the album title says it all. this is polished and really well done. the track with chali 2na may be my favorite cuz hes one of my favorite mcs but this whole album is full of great stuff. the breaks and samples are amazing. seriously all 5 elements of hip hop on one album.

5) Reap
7) Vision Quest ft. Eligh, One Be Lo, Illuminati Congo & DJ Remedy

the last joint on here "kale" isnt so bad but a little funny in a terrible way.
