...the best thing of '98: gang starr finally went gold even though they had to crossover with "royalty" ... overall, the downswing continued, you had to dig deep into the underground to find some gems, especially ny hip hop fell into decline...

98 is one of my personal favorite years ever

mostly due to the wu affiliate output, but some of the commercial albums that year were unbelievable (outkast, pun, meth, dmx, etc.).

dj honda - h2
aceyalone - a book of human language
flipmode squad - the imperial

i dont know if these were mentioned, i skimmed through and didn't see them.

Yo amun1ra1ptah you know Greer is doing life in prison for murdering his girlfriend, right? He murdered her like 15 years ago but finally got arrested in 2015.

Further evidence of these threads being gold.

Revisited E.L.E, The Imperial, and 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz today for first time in a couple years. 3 great albums.

Listened to It's Dark and Hell Is Hot while going for a run and those first few tracks make a motherfucker start running faster with a scowl on my face without even realizing it.

i hate e.l.e....think it's one of the worst busta albums overall, tbh. the beats are mostly terrible, and it's way too long with a corny theme woven in.

those other 3 are great though. the imperial in particular is cool because it's just basically 15 tracks of straight rhyming from busta and his crew. would have liked to hear some roc marcy on there, but rampage and lord have mercy are dope.

E.L.E. isn't touching The Coming and isn't quite on the level as When Disaster Strikes but i fucks with it. It's a fun album where even the singles i dig. It does have a few duds and it's a little too long winded.

Everybody Rise, Against All Odds, and Tear Da Roof Off are my jawns on there.
