^Id say 85% of the albums I've listened to from 2018 gave me the same feeling. Listen for a few days, think it's decent to good, then don't have a desire to revisit it after my initial listens. That's been hip hop in a nutshell for me last few years.

man my heart sinks a little bit whenever people say shit like that

i feel like a broken record or like i'm playing devils advocate because i always comment on those types of remarks but it's true. i'm just glad i still get genuinely excited about music lol.

I gotta figure though with the amount of releases that drops yearly most heads aren't revisiting tons of releases from the previous year. For example i might've peeped 10 albums from 2017 this entire year. I was actually bumping HMK2 today which was one of my favorites.

i still listen to 2017 releases but its not on repeat, maybe 30 different albums from the last year all throughout 2018 + some from that i missed out on. there's a couple that stay in rotation though. really it all depends on what i'm doing the exact moment i think to listen to one of them lol. i have playlists that have songs from all years on it so sometimes a song off a semi-recent album will come on, or a song off one of those albums will pop into my head out of nowhere, and i'll end up listening to the whole record.

Way too much music from all genres.
The recent Roc is the one I gave the most spins in 2018 so far.
I do not listen to older releases or 90ies ish anymore. Only if somebody drops a new project and I might want to revisit the older ones to put it in perspective. (e.g. Behold A Dark Horse might be the best Marciano record yet.)

There are been more than a dozen good albums released this year. But none made me revisit it 2 months after they were released and I probably got less than 10 albums that I listened more than 3 times.

So I'll restrict my self to post any top of the year list....
