i've been listening to aquemini the past couple days, and it finally hit me. there have probably only been a handful of album performances in hip-hop history better than dre was on aquemini....

from top to bottom, he absolutely killed it with the flow, the lyrics, the cadence....everything. big boi was great here too, but dre put his heart and soul into this album and it really shows. from the opener "return of the g" he takes hold of the listener and never really lets up. i found myself anticipating each of his verses thereafter almost like it was the sole reason to listen to the record, which is very rare. the album is a classic, but dre was just in a different stratosphere on it, and it actually never really hit me until now.

Are we all ready to admit that Big Boi is the Danny Boy of Outkast and in no way an equal half of this group? Remember when he won a Grammy when they released the double album!? Fuck me. How shameful would that trophy be sitting on your mantle knowing you literally had nothing to do with it.

Big Boi is the Ben Affleck of Good Will Hunting.

his last verse on the title track alone...

jesus, the flow is just stupid

My mind warps and bends floats the wind count to ten
Meet the twin Andre Ben. welcome to the lion's den
Original skin many men comprehend
I extend myself so you go out and tell a friend
Sin all depends on what you believing in
Faith is what you make it that's the hardest shit since MC Ren
Alien can blend right on in wit' yo' kin
Look again 'cause I swear I spot one every now and then
It's happenin' again wish I could tell you when
Andre this is Andre y'all just gon' have to make amends

I haven't listened to Aquemini for a few years for no real reason, will do in full tonight.

Sir Lucious Leftfoot is easily the best Outkast solo... just saying

I thoughts exactly. Not that Big Boi doesn't bring it every so often, but Andre 3000 KILLS every verse on this album...and who still listens to anything on Big Boi's side of that double album?? Only Andre's tracks charted

I agree that Andres half was far superior but 'The Way You Move' was a huge track.

It just got overshadowed by how massive "Hey Ya" was.
