thoughts on this album?

i've always been a big fan of it, but haven't listened in a couple years. i completely forgot about it, until just now. about to bump it and see if it still holds up.

It's very good. It has a nice flow to it, nonstop music no breaks. The Black Thought track is daffy.

I remember not liking the album because of the Pete Rock influence. I just came to my own conclusion that this is a Pete Rock album being pawned off as a J Dilla posthumous album.

I finally bought the vinyl about 2 years ago and really liked the album. Will have to revisit based on the strength of this poast.

i enjoy the way they involved pete rock in this project. rather than just letting him mix it and be behind the curtains of it, they put him right up on stage, and turned it into a concept album of this being a radio hour of dilla music hosted by pete rock.

the concept gave the impression to me that this project was more serious or whatever than his other posthumous releases, because some real thought went into the construction of this album, whereas most posthumous albums just seem like a bunch of unreleased tracks slapped together into a compilation. the pete rock radio hour of dilla music concept made it feel like they really cared about this project, is what i'm getting at, rather than it being a run-of-the-mill cash grab like most posthumous releases.

Only half of shining is dope, 90's Jay Dee not dropped one wack beat, Fahim to this day not dropped one wack beat.

People under the stairs on the other hand😂;
