I remember it took some getting used to his voice, dunno why, but Say Yes had me HYPE, cause I was heavy into ALC at the time and I listen to beats first...

I think he delivered some Real solid material thruout his career, and I feel bad for the hold up/label limbo he got caught in - couldve been much more out there had it not been for that.

Still, the mixtapes, Greatest Story and even his album from yesteryear w the Premier joints delivered.

aww man this dude coulda been incredible. he dropped 4-5 really dope mixtapes. i kno 88 really likes him and i think really likes his debut that came out 12 yrs after his start on the scene lol wat a shame. he has a ton of great songs tho. NY Streets is one of my favorites. and speaking of favorites "favorite things" is a ridiculous song to. warning shots 1 is a classic.

Quite unrealized potential. In his words, he refused to make commercial songs and from there began his troubles with the labels. At least he did not sell, but he defended what he believed in. If you listen to his music, there are almost always messages and quite a lot of social problems are mentioned. Definitely good MC.

saigon is a well-roundefd emcee, he has a repertoire full of dope tracks, but sometimes he seems to be unfocused, and his beat/feature selections are also questionable at times ... "the greatest story never told" is still a great listening experience since he had a great chemistry with just blaze...

imo, his best mixtapes are "belly of the beast" (produced by scram jones), "the yardfather vol. 1" and "welcome to saigon"...

the greatest story never told 3 album series is incredibly underrated. sai is the dude!

just blaze deserves props for that amazing production on the first one which used to be my least favorite of the 3 but is now prob my favorite. only guest rappers on there are legends like jay and devin and bun. classic album

good post. been meaning to talk about this dude

^yeah he is far from the worst, I meant more overrated, I've heard many of his beats over the years and only seem to like about 1 in 10, I just don't understand how he gets put in the same category as the some of the legends

Saigon is probably doing better shit with his life

underground rappers are broke losers

he wouldn't be mainstream cuz of his hiphop style

so he would be making walgreens cashier money

which is why I only rap for a hobby myself

I'm already makin major money in a normal career that shits on any underground rappers cash flow

all legal

underground rappers can't top my checks

BOW DOWN

One of the biggest missed opportunities in hip hop history, imo. Not even exaggerating. He could have been one of the greatest, but the timing fucked him.

My version of greatest story ne'er told is hella dope.

He still has the skills to drop a dope album, but I dont think anybody wants to work with him, because of how much trouble he caused. Getting in that fight with mob deep, shit talking just blaze online a couple times (and probably more offline), getting drunk and talking shit on the radio, etc. I could be wrong, but people not caring to work with him is a theory. He seems difficult irl, or something.

If people remember, he even had an acting career going on. Was on that terrible show, entourage, and everything. What wasted talent.
