yeah buddy...just copped...

https://belowsystem.bandcamp.com/album/blackmarket-seminar

Blackmarket Seminar", an album by Kazi and entirely produced by Madlib. Guest features by Madlib, MED, Wildchild, Declaime (Dudley Perkins) and Oh No. The album was recorded in 1996 and now digitally remastered in 2016.

Kazi says:
We recorded this album in the wee hours at CDP studios back in ‘96. It was pretty much me, Madlib and Declaime in the lab when this album was recorded.

I learned so much from Lib cadence, rhyme patterns, timing and how to dig for records. What some people don’t know is this cat actually took the time to show me how to make beats. I must say working with Lib was an amazing experience. The “Blackmarket Seminar” is a very raw and dark album. We came up with “Black Market” because at the time we were doing Hip Hop that nobody else was doing and to us you could only get it on the “Black Market”. When you first play the album you'll hear characters on a skit in search of the black market seminar. We really tried to make it seem like the characters were outside walking around looking for it.

We recorded a new video for the song “To Be Lost” as it is about MCs selling out to remain in the game and still makes perfect sense in the present day.

- All track written by Kazi, except track 9 by Madlib & Oh No, track 10 by Kazi and MED, track 11 by Kazi and Wildchild, track 13 by Kazi, Madlib and MED, track 15 by Kazi & Declaime and track 16 by Kazi and Madlib
- All tracks produced by Madlib
- Remastered by Kazi in 2016

The good news...ain't nothin' gonna break-a my stride. Nobody gonna slow me down, oh no, I got to keep on movin'.

I see it is on Spotify. Never heard it I'll bump it later.

Ever heard this? I haven't. It isn't on Spotify but I have it on my Amazon wish list. There's a used copy for six bucks I might have to scoop.

I have this on vinyl and yes i know about the sound issues but I quite like it the way it sounds so rough....

and tbh its not such a bad pressing I don't have any skips and surface noise is ok

digital re-master I will check for tho' but I like the "charm" of the vinyl record

I am an old cunt you see'

Dope! I need this on CD. I have the original 2xLP release from 2014 on the Sergent Records label. I hope that Below System also reissues the remastered version on Vinyl.

I hope so...I would have thought they would have dropped it right now. They have been working on this release for 2-3 years.

^From what I know, Sergent Records (who originally put out the Vinyl LP in 2014) owned the rights to the physical product for 5 years so that's why the CD is now finally comin out through Below System. They told me that back in December 2016 when they put out the remastered Digital Version...
