I'm not talking some middle of the road shit that turned out to suck. I'm talking an album you thought could be Top 5-10 and ended up taking a deuce.

For me it'd be...

some_text

Droog is a great lyricist with some slick wordplay and great 90's references that i connect with. His problem has always been his beat selection. Even his first release i thought was good but not as great as heads hyped it up to be cause of the inconsistent Skizz beats.

This release is no different cause once again the beats were hit or miss. Only tracks i fucked with were Help, Winston Red, Rapman, and Bandladesh. Rest was meh, especially White Rappers and You Can Do It. Two auto skippers on the album.

What would you bros say was your one most disappointing album this year? Please don't go all UGHH and type up a list of 3, 4, 5, etc. Just list one and why. Thanks in advance.

for me it was sadistik's last album. i thought that had AOTY after hearing free spirits and seeing the video for it, but that ended up being one of the only songs on the album that i really liked. i thought there were some pretty corny lyrics on there, and this is coming from someone who has liked his lyrics in the past. some of the hooks got old fast. i listened to the album probably 3 times that first week it came out and haven't felt any desire to revisit it since. i still listen to free spirits all the time though, love that track.

I still haven't peeped that Sadistik album yet. Never been a huge fan but still on my 'Albums to peep' list. Seemed to get mixed reviews on the forum.

What you mean? I never knew you were a Sadistik fanboi.

Yea our tastes in hop hop seem to differ majority of the time but once in awhile we agree on an album or two.

Don't get it twisted. It's one of probably 20 albums on my list of albums to peep. Most of them i won't even end up checking out lulz.

I've only listened to 44 hip hop releases from 2017 so far and that includes EPs.

I thought Honeycomb was a good track on there, along with Free Spirits. I was more entertained by the beats than the lyrics, which is nothing out of the oridinary for me.

I don't have a most disappointing album to offer though, I don't even know what released this year other than that hilarious Dopp Hopp album.

Id say 25 of them I only checked out one time, maybe twice.

No way you've only checked out 20 albums. You had a Top 10 list like 2 months into the year.

I make a word document every year and add an album or EP to it after i listen to it. It's good for the year or two after when i go back and see albums i totally forgot about and end up checking out again.

according to rateyourmusic i've listened to about 150 hip hop albums so far this year, damn. that's surprising even to me since i haven't really been checking out nearly as many new projects lately as i was earlier in the year, i've just had a handful of albums on repeat.

yeah, i listen to music at work, and on the way to and from work. other than that i really only listen to albums late at night or during the weekend. really i just make it my goal to listen to one new album a day, which actually means i failed since there's been 192 days so far this year lol.

the droog album is great. im glad i never jocked him too much until he really impressed me on the ace album last year, then i got kinison. i like packs and kinison better than the ep w pennies on the cover which i like too but like i said i wasn't blown away at first.

most disappointing for me would be the sadistik. it just ain't on the levels of flowers or ultraviolet and my expectations were way too high. its really boring and he needs blue sky black death or kno beats bad!

Hate to say it but I cosign clock on that new Droog.
Painful to say cause he's by far one of my favorite artists these days.
It's not that I hate that LP, more that I expected more from it.
I will say it would be very difficult for him to live up to/ recreate the buzz around his debut due to the circumstances when he released the YOD EP/LP and the whole hidden identity thing that worked in his favor, but I thought for sure he was going to blow everyone out of the water with his next offering.
White Rappers should have been a soundcloud promo track at the most, and Grandma Pants would be a lot better to me without Danny Brown sounding like a dusted muppet.
But even the songs I like on that LP are not standing up to any song on the debut, or even Kinison for that matter.

Regarding that Sadistik, I guess i'm ruined because after Phantom Limbs, the rest of his new work doesn't appeal to me as much. Hope he makes another project with Kno soon.
Really enjoyed Ultraviolet, but Altars not so much.

Damu was cool until it hit the 5 hour mark. Then it became tiring.

Out of the 44 albums peeped nothing else i thought would be Top 5-10 and fell flat. One i had high hopes for that sucked for most part was Big Boi but that was just based off the one single. Still didn't think it'd be Top 10ish.

Hasn't given up more than 3 runs in any of his starts. Anaheim offense sub par even with Trout. I can see a 6 inning, 2 runs type of start.

while I still think it's a good album, for me it's gotta be rosebudd's revenge. I was hyped on it after the first week because it sounded fresh, but the more I listened to it, the more hollow it rang and the mixing is just flat out poor. it has its moments (and those moments are fantastic), but it's nowhere near the level of reloaded or marcberg....not even on the same planet. the lyrics and beats seem to have taken a step back which is interesting. hopefully the second rosebudd album lives up to expectations.

i really don't understand why those subforums haven't been added, especially with the amount of bitching that tends to happen whenever someone posts something not related to hip hop. adding entertainment and non hip hop music sub forums seems like a no brainer and i can't imagine it would be that hard to do. yeah someone could argue that's what the general forums are for, but it seems like that's almost a completely seperate community at this point. hopefully that'll change though whenever these forums finally get that facelift/reboot that's been talked about for a while.

Also not a big fan of that damu. It would be good for some blends, or maybe to play during a talk brake on a radio show, but otherwise I really don't know what to do with seven minutes of a hip-hop instrumental. The beats were pretty fkin good though, wish he wouldve chopped em down and made a y society album out of it

Damn! and Rosebudds Revenge. The mixing being all over the place on the latter being the main reason and Kendrick's album was audio fluff for the most part.
