I will donate to this later this week.

All respects due to Icon.

Quick question Icon - will banner ads come back?

A long term vision of ughh.com being around by Jan 2019 I need to buy a banner advertisement at that time for a new album.

Let me know.

On another note, you have made some very innovative moves here.

I have a vision of ughh.com staying strong and profitable.

I send mad love your way! Lead the way fam!

We actually got cheaper international shipping a few months back. Domestic shipping is dictated by what USPS will offer and we can't get a better deal unless we ship more volume. Unlike Amazon, we don't subsidize the USPS (ever wonder why USPS delivers on Sundays now?) so there isn't much we can do about shipping rates unless more people buy things.

No Mask - thanks for your donation. Shoot me an email next time you order (mike at ughh dot com) and I'll make sure you get hooked up with something extra.

Premier was never $200. It has always been $99. There has been a $9.49/mo option for several months now, we just haven't promoted it as the $99/annual option is cheaper for customers and better for us as a business. We'll add the monthly option to this week's promotional email so more people know.

To the point of killing the forum that someone brought up: I'd never do that. This site is very much about the community. Even if it's only really like 15 of y'all that post anymore.

-MK

Here's an idea that could potentially tie together consumers, up and coming artists, the deadstock program, and possibly even forum members: Curation packages.

New artists or established indie artists send UGHH their physical projects for either free or at an extremely discounted rate (I'm thinking slimlines and wallet slips here mainly.) UGHH staff or even helpful forum members listen. Customers then sign up for a "curation package" in which they fill out a form listing their favorite artists, albums, and/or recent songs [with permission, previous orders could also be taken into account.] UGHH then sends the customer, for a flat fee, two or three cds that best match the customer's taste. At the end of the day customers are introduced to (hopefully) new music, collectors get new curated projects to add to their collection (not knowing what you'll get seems like it could be exciting,) artists participating in the program get some shine, and the forum could also even be lending a hand [each order might even include a small write up explaining why the particular 2 or 3 projects were included.]

The key would be getting a lot of new new artists to send their stuff in so that people would receive projects they actually hadn't heard before - but, in exchange, such artists would receive free promotion.

More people just need to stop being cheap and support the site by ordering rather than downloading from the blogs... If you buy a lot of music and your reason for not ordering from the site is that it is too expensive, then consider joining Premier. The discount may cover the $99 cost and you may even save money based on how much you order. I calced out how much I spend and expect to break even or possibly save a few bucks. Even if the discount doesn't cover the premier membership, you will be supporting a website that a lot of you post on every day.

I don't see how ughh can be a profitable business

You can find the products cheaper somewhere else, and pay less on the shipping end

Membership programs are just a strategy to get return customers and really aren't in your favor, you end up feeling like you have to buy something because you got sucked into it. Almost like a season pass to an amusement park or ski resort, you feel like you have to go because you were dumb enough to buy into it

Music went digital, fewer and fewer people buy physical. Even with movies or shows, its all streamed or bought and downloaded without leaving home or paying shipping

Collectors are few and far between

Spotify is pushing out physical retail, like Netflix did to movie stores. Go into a BestBuy, it looks a lot different than it did 10 years ago..

We all know this, so the only option for a company like ughh is to have these gimmicky reward programs

Unless ughh gets exclusive material from artists, which seems like the artist gets the short end of the stick doing that route when they want to reach as many ppl as possible and sell as much, or ughh somehow gets a digital service, I dont see how the company can stay afloat

This site would stay afloat if they turned it into a gay porn site. You know how much money they could make from wiggers watching rappers like fahim take a dick up the ass by diamond D

Don, I agree with you to a degree regarding the memberships. For collectors, myself included, it makes sense as I actually save money with the membership due to the discount I get. Personally I just don't want to see the site go away as there are not many others that I can buy CDs from. Plus I get a lot of great recommendations that I normally wouldn't find on the forums.

Is anybody else getting a new pop up window to help support the site by having your computer process or calculate the website?

Its annoying as fuck. If you hit cancel it just reappears when you move on to the next page. Not really an option when it keeps popping up basically forcing you to use it.

This site is going downhill fast

Bad move Icon.

Looks like its only for the forums

So not only are we posting on a forum using dinosaur technology, we now have a pop up that we either cave into, deal with it and close the pop up everysingle time we blink, or just stop browsing and posting all together

I'm leaning towards the last choice

What was the forum you guys created last year when everybody was worried the site would shut down?

I only got the pop up once on my phone earlier. Thought it was a virus at first lulz. The enormous exclamation point is annoying as fuck tho.

I just don't get how they can't link up with the forum that was created when everyone thought the site was shutting down. I'm sure there's a reason in regards to coding and connecting all the old posts/threads/etc to that forum. Either way it was simple and updated.

If I lived in the states I would subscribe as its only $10

I saw international shipping had come down, but some of the German Sites are offering free delivery over 140 Euro to certain countries, it was always cheap shipping before that all my orders normally exceed that so a no brainer as they are competitive on pricing too

props to Icon though for preserving the community, I have heard that a certain user made a vid crying when she got bant, imagine what would happen if the forum was taken away from vulnerable people like her

It's the reality of the music industry, specifically a sub genre and online retail stores

If anybody can relate to not making money off of music, it would be you lol

But I wouldnt come here at all if there wasnt for this forum

Yeah I dont buy something everytime but getting people to just go to your site is the hardest part

Just start running ads and posting trivial hip hop news and you'll be alright.

The struggle is real.

Don yeah I get it. There's alot of changes in business - always.

I just want this place to thrive.

Here are random ideas that may help: streaming service, clothes, merch - pens etc, services that connect people with bigger artists for interviews/advice, exclusive content, wake up calls, 1-900 numbers.

Some are already in place.

I just got a nice check from iTunes.

My money comes in other ways like Jay Z tho.

Who makes good money solely off of rap?

Crumple, you dont live in reality

You lose money on every single album you release, dont even break even

A smart person learns from their mistakes, yet you keep releasing album after album.. 15 years later and havent progressed at all as far as lyrics, delivery, cadence, flow, content...even your artwork is shitty

Thats not me hating, that is reality. And its the opinion of literally every person on this site

Talking about you get money in other ways like Jay-Z

Shut the fuck up

I think if UGHH actually had real physical legs there would be three like a Tri-Pod and the head woud shoot lasers and blast random 30 second snippets of Get Rich Or Die Tryin by 50 Cent and it would be friends with Wall-E from the Disney movie cause he would be super chill also when hes not shooting up fake mc's(Lupe Fiasco, Drake, Future ect...) with its bio-optic laser eye.
He would be like at the park playin chess with old people maybe give a half a sandwhich to a bum.

Thats what I think
