listened to all of them over 3 times except 2 of them. most of them over 5-10 times honestly and some over 20. thats all i listened to this year for the most part was 2017 releases. out of those 60 releases- thats only 5 albums a month and i was peeping as shit dropped and didnt have a bunch pile up so it was light work really. i know you were doing similar a couple years back.

what album did i bump the most?.... good question. for sure one of these, but its a blur between them:

Quelle Chris- Being you is great…
Nolan the ninja- yen
The God Fahim- The dark shogun 2
Dirty Diggs- Petty tendergrass
Oh No & Tristate- 3 dimensional prescriptions
The God Fahim- The tragedy of shogunn
Hus Kingpin- Cocaine beach
Shabazz Palaces- Quazarz vs. the jealous machines
Mach Hommy- dumpmesiter

might be YEN.

i honestly wasn't too crazy about it when i first heard it, but once i listened to it more and started to understand the concept of the album (this company selling a fictional drug called MFKZT, and consumerism/capitalism in general) i started to enjoy it a lot more. it definitely grew on me. it kind of reminds me of death grips combined with shabazz palaces at some points, but overall it definitely feels like it's own thing. production is super interesting and and there are some really good tracks on there. american robot, OK, buy my app, yayu, crime.wav, and we all float down here are my favorites.

^ its the one album this year that threw my brain through a loop. not really a challenge but so stimulating that it has me hooked.well, that one and the shabazz palaces. its a crazy trip and production wise its so creative like even the layers of background vocals for one example.

lol that was one of them for me as well for sure. over the years i've found that a lot of the albums that i'm not sure how i feel about them initially are the ones that end up being favorites over time, not sure if you've had that same experience but i think it's kinda interesting. some of my favorite albums i didn't like at all when i first heard them, and that's why i can't really fathom someone completely writing off an album or artists upon first listen especially if it's something kind of left field or unorthodox. i feel like if i did that i would have missed out on so much. that nnamdi ogbonnaya album i listed is another one that i was so confused by when i first heard it but after a while it clicked, i haven't really heard anything else like it. the way he changed his voice/delivery at times kinda reminds me of zeroh or busdriver a little bit.

what do you think of this?

^damn, that left me needing to hear the whole album. what i like is that he seems very mentally free and being himself and flows with natural rhythm. and the voice/style change up is what i always promote/want but almost no rappers do it- he flipped the other style and the track took on a new life. it was nice.

and i too have that experience all the time with certain more dense or creative albums taking longer to click but when they do..watch out.

i 'll peep his album from this year tonight.

that new one & bootie noir are the only projects ive heard from him, but i like them a lot. he also composes all of his own music. i had a feeling there would be some tracks on this album that you wouldn't like though, some of them aren't really hip hop at all. no drool, hop off, don't turn me off, let go of my ego, and should have know are all good though imo.

peace tippi, i thought the krit was really good. so good i that listened to the whole double cd in one sitting

and both discs stand alone as their own decent project

im liking disc 2 more so far overall

and i've always been a fan of what he does.

i also thought cadilactika was hard af!

he gets extra points from me for being as dope of a producer as he is a wrapper

man i was really disappointed by cadillactica, especially since he put out that mt. olympus track earlier that year which was incredible. the tracks that bookend the album are really good but there are some weakers tracks in the middle section of that album that drag it down a bit. i don't think that album is bad though, just underwhelming. imo his first three mixtapes were way better than his two studio albums on def jam. both of those just fell short imo, but it's not like i ever lost faith in the dude because i knew he was capable of putting out something great, and this new album is exactly what i was waiting for. i agree that the second disc is better than the first, but there are some great tracks on both.

subenstein
get up to come down
layup
aux cord
get away
justin scott
mixed messages
higher calling
miss georgia fornia
price of fame
the light
bury me in gold

so many great tracks on here. i went to list my favorites and it's half the album lol.

Mayor T The drop seemed to come out of no where.
Had a few features of artist who got a lot of attention for work
over the past few years. Which was cool. But you know how
that goes. The project does have more than a few song that
are fun to listen to. Later.
