no mask - "i gave it a fair chance and all i can say is....

very pop
very rock
very dramatic
very political
very emotional
very polished/mainstream
very whiny
very lyrical
very well executed lyrical/vocal delivery
very long winded subject matter and album length
very smoked gouda at many points

his rhyme schemes, new style and lyrics are impressive on here. too bad most of the beats are dung heaps. a couple decent tracks like untouchable and framed."

I think 9 out of the 19 tracks are very dope:
Framed
in your head
Offended
Believe
Castle
Arose
Remind me
Walk on water
Chloraseptic

I also think that listening to the album from start to finish is dope - with the pop/filler tracks.

At first I hated the Ed Sheeran track, as it talks about a dude basicaly wreacking a relationship and not caring - leaving the girl who chose to fuck up her thing. I thought - how can that go out in the mainstream? It's evil. And Em always had women diss tracks cause he was hurt. By the end of the album he talks about being on point, there are love songs and he tells his brother to marry the girl she's with cause she's loyal.

That's cool. Plus it's all real life shit. Also he talks about family.

There are hints of hopelessness - even in his world and then big motivation tracks.

I actually think it's a pretty strong album.

Verse: Eminem

Let's take them back to the future (bars)
Bars, like Paul Rosenberg
The small frozen turd (don't censor me man)
Alright look, I had class, I just got expelled
I excelled at nothing in school
So if you're tryna test my patience it just failed
But King Mathers, I still get hailed
So call me sire, like I exhaled
After I had a deep ass breath held
I guess well, that'll make my size double XL
So kiss your highness's hinded ass
While I'm trying to stretch, it's time to exercise
I'm flexing, isometrics
Twice the reps 'til I get extra-sized
And set my bis and pecs and triceps on fire
Cause I'm coming out guns blazing
Like flaming pythons, my suggestion is parental discretion
Be advised, due to this mental aggression
We advise you to back up, like Byron Leftwich
I'm infectious, I rhyme like I got a sinus infection
A virus, I'm congested and I just ingested
Five Allegras but the side effects from these anti-depressants, they're tryna mess with my mind
I'm a regular Hyde and Jekyll
White with freckles but I silence hecklers
You might wanna head for the fire exits
I'm coming through like a wrecking ball
You would swear I think highly of Miley
And I respect her, the way I backhand her
Excuse my French, Montana, but I am worried about nutting
God damn it, I'm a sexist, I drive a Lexus
Textses out of her mind, and I'm in Texas
With a chainsaw, wait, what did I forget this
Time, oh, my machetes getting upset, he said
He was ready for me to come get him from inside the shed
It was time, he's restless
He wants to make blood shed like a storage unit
But before I do it, let me think this through
Cause if I behead this bitch then I'd be headless *slurping noise*
Mic check, one, two
I ain't barely check the mic just yet
And I just sweared like twice as many times
In less than ninety seconds
Than Andrew fucking Dice ever did in his fucking life
But I guess I'm expected to make these kinds of violent records
It's why I keep rhyming reckless
Fuck it, I swear, like a diamond necklace
Since freestyling over phone tap, my line's connected
With rhymes that kept in touch with the fans, that's why the more bars, the better my reception
And I give a fuck about sales, and fuck pop, I don't even like refreshments
Cindy Crawford tryna fend me off with a bendy straw
At the waffle house, awful mouth
But if you don't like what I'm talking about then block me out
Just then Foxy Brown, walks up and knocks me down
Kicks me and socks me, ow
Apparently still mad over what I said last year
On that Vegas track, I just look stupid and stand there
And try to act like I can't hear
What? Sorry dear, but I think Pam Grier just stuck a tampon in my damn ear
That's when my man Denaun Porter ran behind me to pantomime
That if you wanna kick his ass, stand in line
Hands inside my pants as I fantasize taking advantage
Of Brandy and Janet by grabbing my Spanish Fly
Like a blind Hispanic guy with his zipper stuck
Give a fuck, it's all part of my grand design
To get Amanda Bynes to come and fucking blow me like a dandelion
Better watch your step, you 'bout to cross an outlandish mine
I'm what you get if Aaron Hernandez rhymed
So stand aside unless you plan to find out how handy I am with a branding iron
Fuck talking clear so you all can hear
I'd rather rap like a fucking auctioneer
Fuck around and walk from here to the Southpaw premier
Get on Paul's back, rapping "Paul Revere"
So call me queer, cause I'm always weird
So praise a Genius, hope this don't get taken out of text
But Hillary, I promise to wipe my server clean if you face subpoenas
Got a name that speaks for itself like Anthony Weiner
Hands in between my pants in a theater, jacking my meat
A fan of Trina, Angelina, and Christina and Serena and Selena
Scarlett Johansson, Tiffani Amber Thiessen
Give me a damn good reason and not wanna slip an Ambien in the Cappuccino
And try to have a 3-sum with Janet Reno
I'm fucked worse than Donald Trump
On Lexapro in Mexico across from a Texaco in McDonald's drunk
Broke and out of gas, busted water pump
Getting fondled up by Ronald, feeling him on his rump
Oh yeah, and me and Alyssa Milano hump
We do
Bringing the horror to emcees like the aura of the Run DMC fedora
Addidas and Diadoras but I need at least three to four of those Rita Oras
In a four seater Taurus but tell them my face is the best seat in the house
I’ll let them bleed in my mouth while I’m eating them out (that’s disgusting, ow Jesus)
Heat seeking missile, duck, demented, sick, hate and see who gives a fuck
I invented prick, and that’s a true statement, I see the bitch in you Caitlyn
I keep the pistol tucked like Bruce Jenner’s dick
No disrespect though, not at all, no pun intended, that took a lot of balls (ay God damn)
Oh and Azealia Banks just wanna tell you thanks
Now I got trailer skanks sending me ballpark franks in the mail as pranks
And hot pockets, thanks a lot
Awful, I made monopoly off misogyny
Sodomy, how many chocolatey jell-o pops can he possibly lace, walking atrocity
No wonder you scoff at me, it’s still obvious I’m as off-putting as Bill Cosby is
Treat women like property, possessive like a noun with an apostrophe
S’s, I’d probably stalk broccoli, yes it’s
Socrates with a block of cheese and a dollar stuck in this soda pop machine
Got emcees dropping to knees, copping a plea bargain
They keep sobbing, like, “please stop it”
Aftermath, bitch, still Detoxing
Looking for us? We over here
Like we’re eavesdropping

This is like every Eminem album for the last decade+. You listen to it and absolutely fucking cringe at every beat and hook. But you're like It's Eminem, I gotta at least give it another listen. Then you actually listen to and respect the wordplay. Then the beats and hooks you literally cringed in disgust at actually start to sound half decent(most, not all). Then It's like DAMN SON, I didn't hear it the first time or even the second but he just dropped 3 different meanings of a word into one bar and they all make sense.

Look, do we all wish he'd stop doing this gay singy shit, and all the poppy hooks? Fuck yea. Do we ESPECIALLY wish he'd do just ONE album with real producers...I mean imagine him on an album with production by Stoupe, El-P, Premier, Apollo Brown, Diamond D, Alchemist and shit, it would be fucking bananas. But point being, even with doing this atypical style of hip hop I can't help but respect his talent for lyrics and wordplay. I don't care how much you hate him, you can't deny he's nasty with it.

Good to see nothing has changed on this shitty forum. Site peaked in 1999 and has done nothing but degrade into shit since.

Call Eminem queer while simultaneously using the term "pop snot" and "fagit". The irony is real.

bigcrollz on point. While this album is still a below average effort, a few tracks have grown on me since my initial spin or two along with the 4 or 5 I dug right off the jump. An example would be his last verse on Chloraseptic. He spits that verse using multiple styles of spitting while never losing steam from a technical standpoint. And i love the content too as it has a Relapse vibe to it. It's just too many of these fucking beats are garbage and that he must've been blackmailed by Pink to release that song on his album. That would've better fit on a Pink album.

When i typed my initial review itt i had the album at about a 3/10. After a few more spins it's at a 4.5/10. Still my least favorite album of his to date but Castle and Arose are better then any tracks from this last album.

^like i said from the beginning- his skill is heavily present on this album and the styles he drops are delivered with laser precision. he's so on point as an emcee technically.but when you get to the subject matter, barfy hooks, super repetitive themes- it seems he's a bit lost as an emcee. i mean, he's torn hardcore between 2 worlds- biggest selling rapper ever(?) with a chance to make a few more million and he's surrounded by questionable industry types , and its safer and cozy in that go along with the label comfort zone BUT he came up underground, did battles etc, associates with many real rap people, knows he could make a killer real rap album but he dosnt know it would sell.

Funny part is even with this mediocre release, Em is still a better lyricist then 99% of the underground dudes this forum knob polishes on the daily.

Castle and Arose are better back to back tracks then Lupe has in his whole discog.

All these fake hip hop heads here. Suck the dick of monotone, single syllable raps from the likes of Roc Marciona...but hate on one of the best lyricists of all time because he's rapping over some corny beats. You kids have such tunnel vision, It's gotta fall into one archetype or It's "fagit" shit. Fucking jokes lol. Like a bunch of parrots 95% of you. Ye man Roc spittin bout cookin crack in the kitchen, fire shit! You hear Action Bronson spit about chicken cacciatore?!? I eat that shit too bro, ALBUM OF THE YEAR!

Em comes with some concept songs, tries some atypical beats and styles, rips every song to shreds on a lyrical level even if the track itself is wack, yet It's nothing but hate. Why don't you hate on all this faggot shit running rampant on the radio. These cats don't even know how to rap, they legit rhyme cat with cat like 5 times in a row and there are only 7 words in the whole fucking bar to begin with. Phonies son. Hate on it because It's not your style, that's cool...but don't act like the dude can't fucking spit.

"Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, they want me to go eat some worms" might be the hook of the year.

I didn't know what to expect, but Revival is a very solid album.

In a time of sensitivity more so than ever he says

"Rape 8 women who hate men"

And tonnes of other crazy rhymes.

He really does have something for everyone here.

Nice to see that Marshall has embraced the new leftist pc narrative and has decided to go out in public as a crossdresser instead of just doing it indoors with his male friends. I bet his collection of butt plugs is deep.

Clockworx, my favorite tracks are
Framed - like you
I keep rewinding that one
In your Head
Offended
Believe
Castle
Arose
Remind Me
Walk on Water
Chloraseptic

The others I really don't check for but I may.

This album grew on me - the tracks I mentioned...Ill see about the others.

Again this is a solid release for these times. At 45 this is strong album.

Legends don't usually do this unless they're Metallica or Krs One

Fuck yea. Do we ESPECIALLY wish he'd do just ONE album with real producers...I mean imagine him on an album with production by Stoupe, El-P, Premier, Apollo Brown, Diamond D, Alchemist and shit, it would be fucking bananas. But point being, even with doing this atypical style of hip hop I can't help but

Holy gay at this boast...

I'm a pretty big em fan, but this album just sucks. after listening to it a bit more, I can't see myself wanting to replay much of it, tbh.

I think my main issue with it is that is has no flow or cohesive theme to it....it really is all over the damn place. he has tracks on here that sound like they could have been on the Eminem show, relapse, recovery...shit that sounds like it came from a kid rock or pink album. I mean it really is all over the damn place in not just sounds, but concepts too.

I don't like trump at all, but hearing Eminem rap about him just comes off as cringe worthy....like he doesn't say anything that hasn't been said a million times already and the songs don't translate to be as powerful as they should be because they basically amount to "fuck trump". wow, insightful.

I really wish em would do an entire album with dre again....or use alchemist. I don't wanna see a preem, pete rock, el-p album from him. it would probably sound way too try hard at this point...but dre or alc would be dudes he has access to and that know his style and sound well. I'm just bummed he always used to make fun of these soft pop acts, now they're all over his album.

^Yea i think he might be done for after this album. While there are 5 tracks ill continue to listen to off of it, there are so many garbage bin tracks. It seems like after Em dropped Relapse he started doing collabs with garbage bags like Lil Wayne, Drake, etc. It started with that Forever track. Since then he became what he used to make fun of and it's really spiraled downhill last few years.

My Eminem crush first began in '98 with hearing him drop a guest verse on 5 Star Generals on Tony Touch Tape #57 then hearing the uncensored version of My Name Is off a Silva Sir-Fa tape. Told all my boys about a dope new white emcee named Eminem that was on the come up. They all laughed at the thought of a white emcee, especially with that name. A year later they were all sweating his balls.

Yo Weather in regards to lack of Dre on the album...

“It’s always the same with me and [Dr.] Dre. Over the years, I think we’ve really probably become close friends. So I would never look at it any [way] other than that.” Eminem begins. “The last probably year or so is when things started to come together and connect. I know Dre was…he was taking a break. I knew that he was taking some time off so I couldn’t really hit him up for some beats. So I kind of just kept going with what I’m doing. Then I came to him at the last [stage], when the album was pretty much almost finished. We had the discussion that if he didn’t do a beat on the album, could he at least mix. Because he’s not only the best beat-maker in the world to me, but he’s also the best mixer. Hands down. Like, I don’t know what he does on the boards [or] how he does it, ’cause I’ve stole’ all his tricks, and I still can’t make it sound like he makes it sound. It’s incredible.” On Revival, Dre mixed “Remind Me” and “Heat,” both Rick Rubin productions.

Eminem, along with manager Paul Rosenberg, says that Dre helped “sort through the songs.” Eminem adds, “I love to play my stuff for Dre because I’m gonna get an honest reaction every single time, and Dre’s gonna tell me if something sucks.”
