all bias aside, because i actually like lupe's music

i don't see how him making a storytelling track about skateboarding makes him a fraud. is slick rick a fraud for "children's story"? is aesop rock for "ruby '81" the track is in third person, he never said " I first got it when i was six" or "so I kick push", it's all from the perspective of this kid. plus it was never intended to be a single, it's a tribute to a skate shop. there's a million other rappers out there bragging about stuff they've never done in their music and this is what you have an issue with? lol

More proof, from Wiki:

The group disbanded shortly after its inception, and Fiasco soon met rapper Jay-Z, who had an affair with him, and then helped him sign a record deal with Atlantic Records.

Kick Push is insanely corny and awful, but to be fair to Lupe, most people that are into skateboarding are horrible at it...Doesn't mean they like it any less.

even if he never touched a skateboard in his life, i don't think him creating a fictional, storytelling track about another person makes him a fraud. it's just really strange to me that someone would have such an issue with that lol. not every song has to be autobiographical/introspective.

but why is it so difficult to believe that lupe has a casual interest in skateboarding and just wanted to use that as a basis for a song to tell a story with a broader message that a lot of people, not just those who skate, could relate to? if you break it down it's just a story about a kid who continues to pursue something he's passionate about that brings him joy, even when other people don't see eye to eye with him. it's no different from the track "no regrets" by aesop rock, it's just a metaphor for life. yeah it might be kinda corny but that doesn't mean it's disingenuous, you don't need to be a professional/expert to enjoy something or be inspired by it. he admitted multiple times that he's not great at skating, and that he made the song as a tribute for a skate shop without knowing it would blow up the way it did.

i just don't understand how he was being a poser or fraudulent, since he never claimed to be good at skateboarding in the first place. the songs not even about him, and it could have been about any hobby/sport and the overall theme would have still been exactly the same. anyone who took offense to it is overly sensitive or just needed to find something to complain about that day. lupe even refused to do hold a skateboard in magazine photoshoots even though they wanted him to, because he didn't want to give off the wrong impression. i'd understand if this backlash happened right when the song came out, but i've been hearing people complain about this for 10 years now and it's just dumb to me lol.

Murs was fucking Roxy Reynolds ffs, lol. I'm sure she likes dating gay men. U jealous? Btw, Lupe loves that Murs video as much as he loves Aesop Rock. Check his twitter.

Is Lupe ever been linked to a bad bitch? Nope.
Is Lupe got kids? Nope.

Murs wins.
