Roc dropped it late last night. Hopefully it'll start making it's rounds on YouTube and/or other sources today. The few reviews i read about it are all saying it's flames.

I preordered and have it downloaded to my iPhone now. Iíll hit you with a link when I get in to work clock. Figured Roc deserved 25 for this. Dude puts out nothing but quality. Gonna be listening to it in a bit.

Good looks Weather.

I know it was digital pre-orders only in terms of getting the early album drop but im sure there's mad heads that did pre-order it. Nothing up on YouTube yet.

this album is better than rosebudds revenge...and I say that after only getting to happy endings.

the mixing is better, the overall sounds and themes of the tracks are better, and the beats are fuckin amazing. I liked rosebudds (especially joints like marksmen, Burkina faso, and killin time)....but this album just hits you with banger after banger without stopping. it's more relentless so far, and just feels like a more polished version of last years album. Bronson even dropped a dope verse (helps that the beat is incredible).

After a full listen this album is absolutely incredible.

Would have easily been aoty last year and probably will be this year. Roc knocked it out of the fuckin Park. Every track is dope as fuck, period. Not a single weak song here. Honestly, I could see myself thinking this is my favorite Roc album after a few more listens. Beats, rhymes, concepts, samples, skits, everything just fits like a glove. Damn near perfect.

Best tracks:

Bohemian grove
Corniche
Major league
Bedspring king
Happy endings
Kill you
Power

But really that list could change as every song was insane.

Definitely looking forward to this. Hopefully he releases it on CD.

Wicked, I'm guessing Weather knows what you are referring to with light drums. To be honest, I never bought Reloaded when it dropped as I couldn't get into the production. I didn't like the fact that the drums were on the softer side. After Rosebuds Revenge came out I decided to check it out and bought a copy. I guess the type of production I like has changed quite a bit since it originally dropped because now I'm really into it. However, I do think Roc is way overrated on these forums. I'm looking at you Weather. Don't get me wrong, the guy is talented but the fact that his subject matter is ALWAYS the same makes him boring to me after a while. In my opinion, if you can switch around random verses from random tracks and they fit in, which I feel you can do with most Roc songs, then I don't think you got an AOTY.

I feel like lyrics these days are less about what's said and more about how it's said and the context of the beat and theme wrapped around the track.

to me, music is at its best when you don't have to think about it too much and it organically comes together. I feel like roc does that better than anyone in hip-hop. his albums sound meticulous and purposeful. I feel like he rarely says shit just to say it (like most people who think he's overrated think) and puts it where it sounds best in the context of the song and fits with the vibe he's trying to achieve.

I see where you are coming from, but I gotta disagree. I do think Roc's albums sound well put together and that his production is perfect for his voice and the way he rhymes, but lyrics are important. Imo if your lyrics are always gun talk, selling drugs and pimping I'll lose interest. I will say, to your point, the main thing that keeps me interested in Roc is how his production suits his style so well and he has some crazy slang. I am a bit surprised that you think lyrics are less important regarding what is said vs how it sounds. If I remember correctly, you're a fan of KA right? And weren't you a fan of Aesops the Impossible Kid? KA and that Aesop album have some pretty dense lyrics that you need to think about.

There are times when I don't really want to listen to music as dense as KA/Aesop Rock and Roc is a perfect fit for that. My main complaint is just that he is a one trick pony with regards to his topics and that I don't think an album should get AOTY praise if the subject matter on all the songs is so similar.

i really don't think ka and Aesop (at least his newer projects) are all that dense...yeah there's some depth to their lyrics and hidden meanings, but like I said in my previous post, if it's done organically (which I feel they both do), then it's perfectly fine with me.

there are some artists who I feel come off as forced or push something that just isn't them and that's where I kinda lose interest. for example, the czarface stuff....I just feel like that is so cheesy and forced as a concept and it comes off that way in the execution on the albums. I'm a huge deck fan, but czarface just doesn't fit him at all and it shows in the music. it doesn't come off as genuine.

I'm glad roc chooses to stay in his lane and rap about what he raps about, tbh. i think hearing him do anything else would just sound awkward....and i don't mind it because he always manages to make his shit sound cool as fuck.
