Album Of The Year, easily.

Rosebuddís Revenge was the shit, but this is WAY better.

And WickedÖplease quit it with the no drums bullshit.

I only got through half the album but man is it DAFFY. Ill put it this way though, if you're not a fan of Roc's previous work this isn't going to somehow win you over. At least from what I've heard so far. If you are a Roc fan then you're in for a treat.

Bohemian Grove is fucking retarded. One of my favorite tracks and beats so far this year. Respected, Corniche, Major League, and Bedspring King are all top shelf. The only song out of the first 9 that wasn't on par with the other ones was CVS. It wasn't wack but didn't jump out at me the way the others did.

As far as Roc lyrically, you know what you're getting with him. It's part braggadocious, part street tales, and part pimp shit. It's not so much the content but his slick ass wordplay, metaphors, etc while spinning those tales over a soundscape tailormade to his style that elevates him above all other emcees spitting similar content.

The link is flying around, but it's mostly shared in private. I found a link on a different forum :
https://boxden.com/showthread.php?t=2586366&page=3
Go there and you'll find a black bit.ly link for the zip!

Guess I could upload it to youtube, but it would probably get removed by roc's goons pretty fast.

OnT: Really really weird but amazing record. The vocals and all the samples are strange with a lot of blabber over the tracks rather than hard-hitting verses, but I like it.

The production is top tier.
Favourite tracks are:
-Saks Fifth
-Bohemian Grove
-Major League
-Corniche
-CVS
-Kill You
-Power

Can't wait for a vinyl release :>

I feel like lyrics these days are less about what's said and more about how it's said and the context of the beat and theme wrapped around the track.

^That is mos definitely true. Just look at the majority of the mainstream and wannabe mainstream shit. But come on, in the underground it's always also been about what you're sayin.

to me, music is at its best when you don't have to think about it too much and it organically comes together. I feel like roc does that better than anyone in hip-hop. his albums sound meticulous and purposeful. I feel like he rarely says shit just to say it (like most people who think he's overrated think) and puts it where it sounds best in the context of the song and fits with the vibe he's trying to achieve.

^I do agree 100% with what you said there.

WickedÖplease quit it with the no drums bullshit.
You claim to have 30,000+ records but donít have a musical bone in your body.

^LOL

Light drums is fine, but not a whole album of it. I will say though, I have admitted that I love the Apollo Brown & Planet Asia album from last year and that album is filled with very light drums.

I enjoy Roc and own all of his releases, although I do feel he's a little overrated and people dickride him HARD (like you). He sounds so dope over tracks with traditional drums so it's nice when we get some of those joints cuz every album should have that element as well. To me at least. *shrugs*

I definitely agree with that, Clock. He's easily the best of that style and shit.

Finally listened.

Enjoy... Tent City, Bedspring King, 67 Lobby, Power. The Bronson joint is cool.

The Sauce is WACK!! Don't like Kill You either. LOL at Muse... typical no drums wackness. smh

I think last year's Rosebudd's Revenge is easily better. And of the two albums, the best song by far is still Rosebudd's Revenge produced by Don Cee aka Don Chalant of Arch Druids.

Look, I don't like you dissing an artist and then writing a neat lil review.

But I know you love hip hop, so it's okay.

Just don't diss artists and production to just give them props.

this isnt near as dope as marcburg, reloaded and not as dope as rosebudds 1 imo.

pros: rocs on point lyrically, some cool samples and he's creative with picking the samples like on "the sauce"-dope one, also the samples and beat styles arnt 1 dimensional.

Cons: few boring beats with underwhelming samples for sure. (if your doing a minimal and/or light or no drum beat it helps to have a super ill sample!lol). other cons: same subject matter over and over, very laid back album , no hard drum having tracks like i was hoping he would do for a change finally, a couple weak tracks imo ("sacks 5th", bronson is not good on "corniche and that sample has been used a couple times,"pimp skit" is boring and filler, and "muse" is a snore fest. and what im saying isnt super subjective and i like most of his previous shit so its not that i dont know his style .lol-like i said above, he just used some bland samples on a bunch of tracks and he picked better samples to suit his beat style and overall sound on previous albums. straight up.

the Roc cult will still blindly be all over this no doubt. its dope but couldn't beat its way into my top 5 of 2018.

cue rocs internet warriors.

^dont get your panties in a jumble dudes. RR2 is really dope and it actually is top 5 worthy imo.

liquid swords is gzas #1 and the re issue of words from the genius with "pass the bone" feat rza is easily #2 imo.

fav tracks on RR2:

CVS-ill sample
bohemian
major league
bedspring king
the sauce-ill samples, creative shit!

I've listened to this a few times and I think what puts it ahead of RR for me is a few things....

the mixing is far better (this basically can't be argued)

the album stays consistent all the way through. I thought the last 5 tracks on RR just weren't up to the standard of everything before them....'already' in particular was really weak, same with 'here I am'.

rocs lyrics and beats just sound a little bit sharper.

overall, it's just a better product than RR in everything that matters musically. and this isn't me blindly loving the dude...i'll call him out if he puts out something wack, but this album is not that. far, far from it.

man, y'all really still feel that way? i'll admit january was dry but there's been a lot of releases coming out that i'm really enjoying. i'd say its pretty much on par with the first two months of any other year in recent memory, and there's a ton of albums i'm looking forward to that are right around the corner.
