So after multiple listens, I can say that I am a bit disappointed in this one. RR1 was in my top 5 last year, this one is so where near that level. Like I said before, I do not think there any tracks I consider wack, but damn, the majority of these tracks are just mediocre to the point of boring. 4 good tracks, the rest I can live without. Sucks because I was really looking forward to this as the first one was so great.

Lyrically Roc is dope, but his sleepy voice and the production just makes his shit boring to me. I like my hip hop to knock. UN lp is fucking dope, half you guys that ride Rocís dick probably donít even know about this album so GTFOH w questioning my hip hop knowledge. I forgot more about hip hop than half you faggots even know. So if Roc takes a shit on a plate and I donít run out to say AOTY in fucking February it doesnít mean I donít appreciate hip hop. It means I donít dick ride like you. You know who this is directed at fuck face.

This album shits on your favorite rappers most recent album.

In all seriousness, it's not surprising the album isn't getting a lot of love. As i said earlier itt, only a handful of people seemed to dig RR1 when it dropped but by years end a lot more hopped on board. Guess only time will tell if same thing happens this year.

Ehhhh the beats on it are top shelf per usual but some of them emcees aren't close to being worthy of those beats. Plus producer comps are always difficult to be front to back heat. Last one was Re-Animations.

A canadian IPA? like just 1? naw im on 2 Holsten 7% Maibock's and 4 corrs Banquet stubby bottles. shit was on sale. now, i know corrs isnt great but sometimes i like some light easily drinkable shit.

rr2 is dope. bumped it 6 times and it has some subtle qualities some may not pick up on.
"the sauce" and "cvs" and "major league" are all crazy samples and a creative step for Roc and songs worked and are dope original joints.

all rap cant be the same. i like what roc does.

^LOL

dabrye bit Jay Dee's whole style and half that album is bland. Kyo shits all over that dabrye soft ass dilla emulating album crap.

once again, no substance behind a cocky statement.

people dont even know how dope that kyo is. the Sp beats smashing most of the shit out.

and that jericho jackson album only has 5 dope beats on it!

Neither were anything great but that Kyo album was better than the Dabrye.

kyo shit was a fucking comp, one song after another with no rhyme or reason. dabrye was a crafted lp with instrumental interludes that played into the feel of the album but werent long winded beat tape tracks that kyo is known for. hes a beat maker, dabrye is a music maker. big difference. one tells a story and the other repeats the same sentence over and over.

I just don't get why people are so hyped about Roc Marciano. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and have all his albums, but I just can't get over how the subject matter is ALWAYS the same. Clock, Weather, everyone else hyping this album, doesn't that bother you at all?

i just like how weather comes in every day since this was pinned to tell us he likes it. ru trying to convince urself pal? cuz i think thats wat most people do with roc and his albums cuz hes held up as the god mc wen it IS the same subject matter every album. and its not one of those "u kno wat u get" wen u listen to a roc album, its fuckin stale is wat it is and hes a one trick pony and not avant garde at all.

^i agree dabrye has a wider sound and is probably more well rounded and skilled but kyo did that whole album on an SP! a limited sampler that not only gives you that raw grit but takes skill to use that limited 10 seconds of sample time wisely and he just killed it and brought a pretty well rounded hard hitting album. the features wernt even great but the album worked well. its the one i can throw on after bumping 90's shit.

^^^it always comes down to a matter of taste but kyo is catering to a specific rap fan where dabrye can hit alot of different fans plus people not into rap can appreciate the craftsmanship of the album. i think every producer comp should be like that with 15-20 tracks and around 4 or 5 instrumental interludes than dont exceed 2 mins. its just put together good and he got quite an all star line up for it which showcased said catering to many rap fans, every style of rapper was on ther.

Clock, Weather, everyone else hyping this album, doesn't that bother you at all?

I'm over exaggerating a little bit in this thread.

I don't see how it's a negative if i go into an album knowing what the majority of the content is going to be yet still enjoy it. Roc is the godfather of the style dozens of rappers have tried to emulate and haven't been near as successful. Also the content is only part of why i dig the album. It's the structure of beats he layers over the lyrics that make it seem cinematic at times.

Yo ETW tell me how that PA album, where he is the fucking king of spitting the same shit on every album, is your second favorite album?

These are just some of the emcees/producers on social media talking about how dope RR2 is...

Muggs
Premo
Just Blaze
Alchemist
Jake One
Busta Rhymes
Questlove
House Shoes
Chuck Strangers
Your Old Droog

So yea it's not just a few heads on this little niche forum thats feeling RR2.

The beats on that PA are generic shit I've heard a million times.

i just get incredibly bored with 3 verses from him and a full album is a chore. i like him as a guest. i just think rap fans and looking at that list of artists, they should also hold some other rappers in higher regard as far as pushing the envelope or coming with something new and fresh. i can think of atleast 8-10 rappers the last 10 yrs who are more creative than roc since hes explosion.

Roc birthed a style. Not too many emcees the last 5-10 years can say that.

At this point Roc has 4 certified classics plus the UN album and all of his dillion features. Canít forget about his production and also donít forget Knowledge The Pirate is his friend. I think itís fair to say that we are watching the greatest of all time here.
