^ i have same complaints as above- 2 or 3 known samples, no hard drums but its dope. some ill music samples and a few cool flips but nothing super dope on it really. solid. i dont really dig the sampled fake static apollo puts on everything either. Asia could also be doper if he didnt talk so much shallow shit most of the time too.

I shit on Apollo Brown in another thread sayin the way he chops his beats up is bullshit and he's half fuckin deaf. After multiple listens to this I wanna take that back.

The beats on this are ridiculously dope. Even with light drums the shit bangs. Yeah I heard some of these samples but that's cuz I'm a hip hop junkie. I ain't gonna consider that a strike against it.

Planet Asia held it down as well. I think eventually this album is gonna be considered the crown jewel in his catalog.

dope fuckin lp. i don't mind the lack of kicks and snares for some reason. somehow this was mixed really well and you still get the full audio spectrum from the vocals and the samples.

Well what can we say?
Its nothing short of pure wackiness.
For almost 2 decades planet asia has been giving his fans a low quality form of music that can be enveloped by casual fans of the genre who have never put their ear to greater music such as drake, Gucci mane or future.
He is a poor man's mos Def and talib kweli.
Is output is outstanding but that is not to say the same about his musical talent which lacks more than a lazy boy chair or a young 15 year old coming in late to his job at a fast food joint. What I mean to say is that his effort isn't as it should because his ability to rap with greatness is not that it should be.
The definition of this track is "hipster crap". And in no way will you hear this in any black community. For you shall hear it at a hipster cafe where lattes are served on ice in an expensive glass; Maybe you want to buy a granola bar non gmo to crunch on your drink as you listen to sounds of planet asia and Apollo booty brown.
This type of formula has run dry. The unsuspecting minorities who partake in this type of music will scream "real hip hop", but the only thing real about it, is that it doesn't conform to any sorts of ridden. It leaves the listeners ears dry and irritated as if you needed a Q tip to Pry out the wax left over from the vile despicable sound that planet asia delivers

This is my new aoty. The production is a few tiers above anything apollo has ever done and Asia brought heat on every single track. There wasn't a single song that felt out of place or that I even felt the need to hit the skip button on. This shit is what I look for in current hip-hop. Just a fantastic album front to back.

Man I hate the fake vinyl cracking that AB uses on everything, bugs the shit out of me and takes me out of being able to focus on the actual beats and lyrics. If I want cracking I'll buy the vinyl and not clean it.

Album is a 7/10 but could be a 9 if the crackling was even toned down a bit or removed.

Cosign the above, seems to be some kind of trademark thing. Just like the use of samples and how AB flips them. Tbh somehow I constantly imagine ABs usual type of drums on these tracks while they're not there.
PA putting down a solid job.

As background music I feel it will do, it's no hiphop to me though. Poetry is the first word that pops up.

I like this a lot.....easy listening good for a lot occasions..Asia jumps around from topic to topic, but he paints a good picture with his lyrics...

Appolo's beats are super melodic, not a bad one on here.

Only complaint is that Asia's choruses lack...Really nothing to them. They almost hurt some songs...Like Panites in a Jumble..But not toooo big of a deal.

this I almost kind of agree with as the only criticism of the album...surely they could have thought of a better hook for 'diamonds' than just repeating that word over and over? 'deep in the casket' has a kind of obnoxious hook too, but that beat is so dope.

I really like the way Apollo used vocal samples as extra instruments on some of the tracks....give the album a unique and very melodic feel to it.

Glad to see CDs available. I'll buy it eventually. I listened to the fist several tracks and it sounded good. Apollo didn't really alter the samples that much, kept the original raw/gritty sound however you want to call it.

This was a great release. Wasn't mi blown like i thought id be, probably cause of the subtleness of the beats. Couple of the soul samples i wasn't fucking with in regards to how he chopped and looped them. Those only minor complaints. With that being said, project is mad cohesive. PA lyrically ripped damn near every track.

Those horns on Duffles chiming in and out while PA lyrically rapes the track >>>

Deep In The Casket got them strings with the haunting vocal sample = DAFFY.

Someone name me the track that had the same sample as Fire. I'm racking my brain trying to figure it out and can't.

For the most part tho, dope samples and digging the laid back vibe. AB's drum game became pretty predictable and not in a good way as he started blowing up few years ago. Nice to see him flip his style a little bit on a more minimal tip. Top 10 album for me this year so far for sure.

Damn I also recognize the sample on Fire...ah I can hear the other track in my head right now. I wanna say some west coast shit.

After listening to the whole album I would have to say good not great. I like the laid back minimal vibe, but would have liked to hear at least one or two bangers like on Daily Bread, Trophies, etc. At least one.
