You know its kinda hard to say. I mean what classifies someone as a Gangsta rapper? Would you consider Todd Shaws early releases as gangsta rap or just Dirty raps, especially his 75 girls releases the request tapes? I will say that A.P.G. was putting hard shit out a lil before 415, but i think 415 was a bit more polished than A.P.G... IMO i Think it was Todd and Freddy B, but shit even Cassidine (though they seemed more like sex raps) dropped what may even be considered a gangsta rap album before A.P.G. or 415..

I say it was Todd, but I wouldnt try and argue others down that it wasnt A.P.G. or 415..

For real though, like A Plus said, its a good ass question!

Gangsta is just keeping it G or real. You can be a G and not do dirt , that's basically describing Too Short. But when I say gangsta rap I mean gun violence , which Too Short never rapped about

I'm a have to peep Cassadine

yeah Todd is just pimp rap.

A.P.G. first album was in '89 -did they drop any gangsta shit before '86? cause Ice T's "6 in the mornin" was 86 (inspired by schooly D's p.s.k. from '85) and was the first west coast gangsta rap song released i think.

in generaL-Just ice, b.d.p. in 87 and then followed N.W.A. in 1988. kid frost around '90.

i dont think 415 released anything till 1990 either.

toddy dropped batteram in '85

not really gangsta rap but rapping about crime .then he dropped "just say no" in 86:

Too $hort was never Gangsta Rap. And no mask, we're talkin about Northern Cali. Ice-T is from Los Angeles. I think it's APG too, but don't know. Ill Mannered Posse (IMP) came out slightly before 415, no?

^i know- but im responing to observe saying: "And of course the first gangsta rap song came outta oakland"

implying hes talking in general. so i had to straighten that out and give some broader background.

I already said above A.P.G. was before 415. I.M.P was before 415 too but after APG.

at wickid-lay down lil man aka DJ Blend

observe said in his first post i this thread:
"And of course the first gangsta rap song came outta oakland"

and he could have meant in northern cali but it was worded generally if you know anything and i wouldnt be surprised if he was talking shit so i cleared it up.

at wickid weak fake DJ-fall back sheltered, soft ass nerd, weak DJ boy. your moms a pig and your a fuckin joke dork DJ so die slow.

seriously- your a generic, no skill having socalled DJ who does the most generic mixes ever: premo mix, pete rock mix, your weak west coast mixes- all dre, likwit, heiro- lol-just scratching the surface. people like you just DJ to feel cool and use hip hop to build up your ego! you only like 1 form of rap and have the most limited taste in rap ive seen.

WICKID THE WEAK ASS NERD DJ. you still look like a goof even though you try to hide behind the hip hop themed T-shirts and ball caps ya fuckin goof.

wickids the known dumb ass on here.

^caught me at a bad time this morning and i dont mean that negative shit. BUT fuck your smart ass comments man- no need to call me a dumbass for such a weak reason and it wouldnt fly in person. promise. as far as more people checkin your mixes then my albums etc.- maybe but popularity dosnt mean somethings great. as far as DJ'ing what do you offer to the art? cause just blends aint shit. what creativity have you offered to the culture? what skills have you used to evolve the art? what techniques did you invent? NONE, nada-nothing- you just blend shit and stick to a narrow band of rap to the exclusion of other dope and important rap styles. your a hip hop DJ? then do a album with no blends or other peoples songs included! Me? i broke ground, created shit, birthed emcees, judged battles, opened for big artists, sold thousands of albums. anybody buying your cute little blend mixes?

^Clearly plenty of people disagree with you when my Mixes and Radio Shows have been FEATURED on egotripland 10+ times along with gettin multiple features on okayplayer, two very well respected blogs. And what about the other 5-8 dope blogs out there that have featured my Mixes and Radio Shows multiple times?

no need to call me a dumbass for such a weak reason and it wouldnt fly in person. promise.
