that ulver album was cool but not AOTY for me

my top 10 non hip hop releases from 1-10 is probably

converge - the dusk in us
chelsea wolfe - hiss spun
tricot - 3
wolves in the throne room - thrice woven
elder - reflections of a floating world
forest swords - compassion
iglooghost - neo wax bloom
ulver - the assassination of julius caesar
amenra - mass vi
king gizzard and the lizard wizard - murder of the universe

converge has been one of my favorite bands since i was 10 years old, and the fact that they're still pulling out quality albums and pushing their sound is impressive to me. they haven't put out a bad record in 20 years. this album contains some of the best songs these guys have written, and jacob bannon's vocals are more diverse and sound better than ever. overall it's a perfect combination of sounds/styles from through their discography, combining the old and the new. my only real complain is that song "eve" they released as a single isn't on this album, because it would have been the best song on the album imo.

looking forward to the new bjork too, which comes out next week

Also think Stony Hill by Damian Marley is very good - save for a handful of songs.

Another solid release is Gary Clark Jr - Live in North America. This song is on the album but this version is from ACL in 2015 I think.

Ironically King Gizz is the best LP mentioned itt, and in my experience 95% of undiscovered shit from the past is undiscovered for a reason.

Diss hipsters while being more hipsterish than them brehs.
