Roc Marciano - Reloaded

Roc Marci is the bridge between the old and the new. He links Wu and Mobb Deep to Griselda and The Winners. He gave life to dozens of NY emcees. His input can't be overlooked. Heads got blown off the neck with his first album Marcberg, but he was just starting to cook.

Reloaded is a classic b. Just when "boom bap" hip hop was getting rolled into a hospice, Roc Marciano decides to lay new bluprints on how to do real rap. First things first, turn the drums down or get rid of them completly. It's about vibes on this album and the whole feeling is sinister. Beats are stripped down to nothing leaving you wondering if it's even music until Roc drops emeralds. You're left frozen hanging on to each word.

i love this album, but there's a few tracks i ain't fucking with. and i also dislike that rocky ii didn't make the final cut for, i'm guessing, sample clearance reasons. i added it to my version, as well as i shot the king.

i'm a big fan of the final track's vibe on this album. the man. love it.

he was fucking with prog rock samples on reloaded, and that's why i like it, but he leaned in so much more on rosebudd. pimp arrest is still my fav track of 2017. shit is so mean.

Album was a game changer

Favorite songs in order favorite to least:
Pop
Snow
Shoutro
Raw deal
Whateva whateva
Don shit
Ridin around

I knew roc had it in him since "the heist", and he proved it with this album. I love that he produced it. Nice and consistent sound on this album, grimy beats and a flow that only willie the kid was touching upon at the time. The first collection in a long stretch of classic material from roc marc

just like lloyd banks tooks fabs style and ran with it, gunn and hus tooks rocs and are killing him. and lets not forget willie. roc has no emotional in his voice. thats where he falls short especially to gunn and hus. yall guys never give credit to the biter, sometimes that shit works out and ther better than the original. lol at game changer. yea to like 1000 people.

im aware of willie doing it as long as roc. but roc didnt always rap snoozy. hes spawned more shit than good. like i said, gunn and hus are the only roc clones worth a shit. and fuck ka, dude is awful. lets sacrifice emotion, vocal tone, flow, and even delivery for ur bullshit def poetry jam lyrics. dude needs to keep his fire fighter job and give the mic to someone, neone else.

1. Marcberg (and I haven't heard an album I like as much SINCE)
2. Rosebudd
3. Reloaded

I love Roc but I don't really dig the luxurious pimp angle he hit on Reloaded as much as the Marcberg street shit. Now it seems every rapper raps about spending money on expensive sheets at Pier 1.

lmfao at ka is awful....that honestly has to be one of the worst opinions I've seen on this site. you can say you don't like his music or that his style doesn't appeal to you, but to say he's awful is just wrong.

and yeah reloaded is a classic...one of the best albums of the past 10 years. even my favorite record this year (cocaine beach) was heavily inspired by this album...shit, most of these ny guys are dropping albums that use this as a direct influence. roc did something on here that is so hard to do...and that's to make a unique sounding street album rooted in 90's hip-hop...in the 2000's. this shit is a 10/10 in my book.

Reloaded is the best album since 2010 and one of the best of the last 10 years for sure.

Flawless front to back. Even what i thought were the two weaker tracks upon my first few listens (Thugs Prayer Pt. 2 and Thread Count) grew on me. Tek To a Mack and Death Parade are two of the illest songs to drop since the album dropped then and better than anything on Marcberg. And the little or faint drums thing doesn't annoy me at all. Had a lot more cohesiveness then Marcberg being that Marcberg had some songs from years prior that were included on it.

lol at worst opinions on this site. this site is the only place ka has fans.

it's not though lol, that's just flat out wrong man. just because you don't like him doesn't mean other people don't. dude has gotten cosigned from other more well known artists like earl and aesop rock, and his albums have been critically acclaimed. night's gambit was on rolling stones "top 20 albums of 2013 list" and way less people knew about him then than they do now. ka also gained a ton of fans due to that whole controversy when NY post put out that hit piece.

i honestly don't think ka sacrificed anything, his music is just different from your standard hip hop. his "character" is like awise, old, storyteller who has done some shit in the past he's not proud of and is sharing these cautionary tales that he's weaved in order to try and make amends, turning something negative into a positive. ka has more character than most rappers to me lol, and he's insanely humble about it all. you say his music is boring, but i say it's engaging and atmospheric. not something i'm going to throw on all the time, but when i'm in the right mood it hits so hard. it's that late night headphone type of music for me.

wen has aesop rock been well known?

i will discontinue this argument and let yall talk about ka ka all ud like but i could care less about the rolling stone stuff. hes a novelty artist, thers also indie shit bands in rolling stone as well who sell 1000 copies and ther just as lame and less critically acclaimed as this audio nyquil. this is the only time wicked disses stuff where i agree with every fiber of my being. dude is a flat line. go make audio books or write short stories then fucko, u have zero presence on the mic, fucking zero. u lack any charisma and its not on purpose like roc with his slow boy drug dealer flow, he just sucks. go get ur fire hose dick breathe and pass the mic over to someone who can ride a beat u dorkus.

"rarely say my name, but n*gga's know it's me." - ka

ka has a tonne of character, just not in the loud-mouth, hey-look-at-me kind of way. most rappers/fans associate obnoxious cockiness with character (see: celph titled's career/life), which is fine. there's nothing wrong with that. but, when someone like ka comes along, and displays humility rather than cockiness, it can throw people off, because humility is so against the norm in hip hop.

^^^than he broke tradition. the ground he is breaking is unbelievable. not for me. and rappers can have a character or aura or even a bragginess about them without being a cocky asshole. look at bronson. a person like joey badass it blew up in his face but then u got asap rocky whos from harlem which is an obvious to be flamboyant but he commands attn whether its clothes, his voice, the beats he chooses. ka lacks too much for me to dig his music or support him. and ive peeped atleast 3 of his projects. i remember one being ok and the rest i dont wanna hear again. i wont say he sucks nemore cuz its subjective and i dont need essays thrown my way but i truly think hes not that great.

dude what are you talking about lol, aesop rock is one of the most well known independent rappers ever. he sells out venues and has been on billboard charts and was even on mtv around the time none shall pass came out. impossible kid had the best first week album sales of his entire career. yeah maybe your average person on the street who strictly listens to mainstream rap wouldn't know who he is, but anyone who is really into hip hop would. it's like saying mf doom isn't well known lol.

but anyway, i disagree with you 100%. i don't understand how you could say he has "lack of charisma" is on purpose, when it's obvious that it's on purpose. he wasn't rapping like that in the natural elements days so it's clearly a conscious decision. and lol at saying he should make audiobooks as if that's equivalent to music. i legitimately don't understand how someone could hate an artist so much who is undeniably talented, dude is good at what he does even if you don't personally enjoy what he does and most people recognize that.

they know aesop rock too lol, and atmosphere and other rhymesayers/stones throw artists. aesop has worked with all those dudes too on multiple occasions, anyone who is really into DOOM or atmosphere would know who aesop is. aesop rock even has that photo with a$ap rocky lol. i've actually talked to people who listened to el-p's solo albums because of run the jewels and found aesop that way.

also wtf are you doing watching that stuff gino, there's so many good series out there that i'm willing to bet you haven't seen and this is what you choose lol. it would be like if you wanted to watch a movie and decided on 50 shades of grey or some softcore porn. it's annoying because it reinforces the stigma that anime already has which is that it's all tentacle porn or cute, girly stuff like what loewi watches.

^^^its was 2 bucks in this bargain bin at this place by my house. i really couldnt believe how horrible it was on the first episode. its super pornish and thers tons of double meanings to the story. its very giantess-like and women dominating men. im intrigued enough to atleast finish the first disc but ill prolly go trade it for a cd or record at cdwarehouse next week. i got a few other ones i found in the bundle at the bargain place that are pornish. ther so fucking creepy. the one that loewi likes i actually sold recently, it was part of that haul. i actually shined a black light over the bundle wen i got it home, thats how freaked i was to have it. no cum
