"something something trailmix eating hipster fgts" - wicked, probably

definitely going to be listening to this, even though his last album was a kinda disappointing to me. i still think his first two projects are his best work, as cliche as that might sound.

From a musical point of view he is dope as fuck

Still "Soon it will be cold enough" -> his first album is by far his best and 6 albums later he never reproduced this quality.
GP I will check for that because this guy is and always will be an autocheck.

yeah his first two albums are still his best....but the last two have been pretty damn good too (just not on that level)

safe in the steeps cliffs is still one of my favorite records ever. just the perfect mood music.

the singles from this new one are pretty dope...especially 'goodness'....

Splendid news!

Needless to say this weekend will be filled with glorious music..

Weatherman, you originally hit me off on Emancipator, so I'm grateful. I agree that "Safe in the Steep Cliffs" is an all time slumper..

I have no doubt that this album will be one of the worthiest of the year if not the most worthy.

Here! Here my n*ggas!

I wish he put out a cd for the dusk to dawn remixes. If you guys like emancipator you should check out Frameworks and Nym on his label (Loci Records). Both guys are similar and have great albums. Canít wait for this new album. Everything emancipator does has been great so far.

i really like tor on the loci records label...I feel he's different enough from emancipator to warrant some attention. he's got some really great drums on a lot of his stuff.

nym and frameworks are also dope.

Yeah, I forgot to mention Tor. His albums are nice as well. I just wish Blue Book was released on CD. Basically if you are an Emancipator fan you will most likely also enjoy Frameworks, Tor, Nym and Lapa. Weather, have you checked out Frameworks new album "Kings"? It's pretty good. Link is below.

I liked kings

felt it was a little longwinded in places and lacked some staying power with me, but it had some good tracks....just nothing too memorable.

I thought blue book was excellent though.

Really? I liked it a lot. I'm with Tippi though regarding it being background music. I usually have it playing in the background when I read, cook or at work. Doesn't really get played in the car or during parties.

ETW has been making his case for Hidden Orchestra topping Emancipator for years, but I ain't buying that bridge. Hidden Orchestra seems ok, a lil Jazz influenced, but it lacks sensationalism, or an it factor. Emancipator just functions on a higher level.

That Frameworks song seemed kinda dope though. I'll check for it.

Good post though lets keep this shit going.

Gave it a quick listen and my first impression is that it doesn't seem to have as much instrumentation as his other albums. I'm curious to see how much live instrumentation he used on this album compared to his others. Either way, I liked what I heard and am looking forward to getting my order.

shaun this is a nice easy start to actual instrumental music. like just puttin the tip in my friend. unlike those beat tapes u claim are instros. dont be so safe. maybe work ur way up to a rob swift nightmare or a dj shadow masterpiece but this is a good start.

Hidden Orchestra is nice as well. Only issue I have is sometimes the songs take a while to get going. The song will be like 9 minutes long and the first 3 or 4 minutes are the build up. The new Hidden Orchestra album is good, but I prefer the first two. Their remix album was pretty good as well.

So...I agree with Borndead's assessment of not as much instrumentation as past albums..Buuuuuttt...

This album is really fucking good I'm loving it..Baralku, Tree Hunt, Bat country,Rappahannock Winter Dub, Time for Space are top notch. I haven't even listened to the whole album. So this is an early opinion, but I'm gonna gor as far as saying that it might be my favorite album yet. We'll see how time tests. Thats where I'm at right now.

listened to this shit all weekend, and I thought it was way better than his last couple releases. it sounds more focused with a ton of unique little samples and instruments going on in the background. I like that none of the tracks really blend together and all have their own signature sound.

standouts for me are: baralku, goodness, udon, bat country, Rappahannock, and time for space...but every track is dope, to be honest. great record.
