Was making some Spotify Playlists few days ago . Each playlist was a 'Best of' from a specific year. When i got to 2012 i was able to add damn near 100 tracks in like 20 minutes. I could barely fill up 40-50 tracks for other years in that same time frame.

I've said it before but 2012 is easily the best year of hip hop in over 10 fucking years. Just look at this list of releases and tell me otherwise...

If you don't agree that 2012 is the best year of past decade then give me another year and prove it. Thanks in advance.

Reloaded is better than any album that dropped last year. There's dozens upon dozens of quality albums that still get play from me from 2012. Last year there's maybe half a dozen that stay in rotation.

You got Reloaded, RAP Music and GKMC.

Those are the albums of that year to me. Nothing else touches those 3.

2009.

Thats when the south was accessible through swishahouse and michael watts.

Camron got back into the game and started working with vado and araabmuzik. Rick ross released my favorite mainstream hip hop album oat. Fab and jada and twista and a bunch of others were all still going strong.

Steady bloggin and the TROY blog were killing it with the monthly mixes of mainstream and underground--some of the best seasonal mixes that i've heard since DJ Foodstamp.

Ughh was good (as it always is every year) with alchemist and 9th and madlib ect ect ect and i believe this is when roc marciano singles started leaking through...that winter was dope

I was gonna make a big long list but i dont even wanna get started, 2009 was daf

2015 & 2016 were great too, but for me it's too soon to say whether or not they were better than previous years. there's always a few dozen releases every year that i really enjoy when i first hear them, so it all depends on how often i revisit those albums afterwards. that's why it's really easy for me to say 2011, 2012, and 2013 were the best, because the replayability of those albums has already been proven to me.

This was a rhetorical thread for me. I went through all the years with a fine toothed comb prior to making it. Nothing is fucking with 2012. It's more top heavy then any other year.

This year got stale as fuck for a 3-4 month period over the summer. Only within last month has it picked up momentum again.

One of the most lulz thing about the voting in my OP is Mandatory Brunch Meetings finishing in third place. That album is below average. Just goes to show prisoner of the moment votes since it dropped towards end of the year and Meyhem could do no wrong at that time on the forums.
