I there,
I'm writing a short essay for school on sampling.
I would love to know what people think are the most important samples of all time. ie. songs that contain samples or interpolations and have impacted music or society.

Besides my essay I think this would be an interesting discussion on what samples and why they are important.

Please help.
Thanks!

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

Melvin Bliss - Synthetic Substitution....used by artists from all different styles, regions, eras...just a classic sample.....also ESG - UFO.....sampling sorta turned little known artists into one-hit wonders....

Baby Huey - Hard Times...was one of those hard-luck musicians that died young...but this song was used a bunch & its kinda his legacy

Marvin Gaye - Innercity Blues

Bob James - Nautilus....David Axelrod - Holy Thursday....2 of the biggest legends from sampling....also interesting cause they're white jazz guys & they were just doing their own thing but sampling gave them a 2nd act in a new genre...also movie score guys like Dave Grusin (Biggie - Everyday Struggle, Amerie - Why Don't We Fall In Love)

songs like the Wild Style theme (Chris Stein from Blondie) & Genius Of Love from the Talking Heads (used by alot of west coast artists + Mariah Carey - Fantasy)....some of the best known rock artists embracing sampling kinda legitimized it

Richard Pryor- sampled a lot...just had a cool cadence that fit into songs
