I have to admit that I slept on this album heavy...

Finally got a copy and listened to it a couple times over the weekend.

This is another CLASSIC album from 2012 - my favorite year in hip hop this decade.

What was the final UGHH verdict on this concept album? I thought it was genius.

I honestly think this is one of those albums where the UGHH reviews aren't favorable and everyone assumes...

I know from going back in the search, Pop Kill really enjoyed it.

Nothing but love. De La Soul shit out gold. I pre-ordered and was bumping it for a good while.

The tracks that stood out to me were Work and Move em in

i thought it was pretty good, had no idea that it was such a polarizing release. i wasn't on ughh at the time but from what i remember most people i talked to said they liked it as well

i wouldn't say first serve is amazing, but it's fun/energetic and solid overall. as a concept album i think it fell short though, and overall is just a little too safe to really standout. it's not really an album i ever think to go back to, but whenever i do i enjoy it.

i think it was maybe undervalued, because it was too lenient on the concept. not enough stand out tracks. a problem a lot of concept albums have, unfortunately.

i liked when they dissed each other. all groups should have such a sense of humor and do as such from time to time

i always put de la ahead of tribe. tribe has better albums but they stuck to a formula. de la was first and has done everything and every style.

Anonymous was pretty good but it had too many soft felt songs back to back for my taste. Service was dope all the way through.
I've always put De La over Tribe, but Tribe had the better album last year.

At the moment I would rank their discography like this: (my personal preference varies greatly)
Mindstate
Bionix
Stakes Is High
Mosaic Thump
Grind Date
First Serve
Anonymous Nobody
Dead
3 Feet High

For Tribe it goes:
Midnight Marauders
Low End Theory
Service
Paths of Rhythm
Beats, Rhymes and Life
Love Movement

Tribe and de la should of stopped rapping in the late 90s. They tarnished their legacy . I remember I saw phife at the bar standing next to the DJ kevy kev. Nobody even cared that he was there , imagine if it was drake standing there the place would of been on fleek la lit. I would of photo bombed drake till my phone ran outta battery,

It's kinda hard to just play a track. Def works better if you play the whole album from beg-end

I listened when it firat came out
The beats were just weird and not that good I remember.
I think there was like one song I liked and not that much cause I cant even remember what it was
I think it was track 9 maybe
