^Yeah I never get why people include albums like that. A "Best Of 2017" albums list should include only albums of new material. Guaranteed people will include that new (old) Blu & Exile album that drops in a couple of weeks.

Anyways, not really feelin your list...

I really don't care what are your top hiphop albums of the year. But at the same time is nice to see what other people consider the best of the year... so thanks for the post.

Out of all the albums you mention I really didn't like OC & Apathy album, and I think PMD, Doppelgangaz and Edo G albums are good but not great, so I don't know if should bother and listen the rest of your top 10....

By the way Q4 just started...

wow.

im guessing you only heard about 10 albums this year- the ones in your list. seems like you struggled to come up with 10.

No one from your list made into my top10, and I'm not so up to date with all the releases of 2017...but there are at least like 5 top underground albums out there that are not on your list LOL.

Still must check out Edo.G album though...

The only "good" album in dudes Top 10 is that DJ Koss (the Pudgee is great but it doesn't belong here). That Group Home is wack! Haven't peeped the KRS. Not much interest in PMD in 2017. The other albums have good songs on them but none of them should be listed as a "best" anything. Guaranteed dude hasn't listened to much from this year. You shouldn't even be allowed to make a "Top" or "Best" list unless you've listened to 75-80% of everything that's come out.

That Pudgee has no business on that list. That's like me putting Nick Wiz Volume 5 on mine. If it was recorded in the 90's then it's not a 2017 album regardless of when it dropped.

I'm floored Platform has Dopp Hopp on there. Seems to be totally against the grain of what he normally likes. Everything else on there either sucks or I haven't peeped.

Shouts to everyones comments!! For starters, I think that Dopp Hopp album is gonna be my top album of the year, its soo left field and track to track it gets better and better. That Ran Reed album was dope front to back as well, his first official album, after dropping all those singles in the late 90s... the pudgee album is an official release and should be on this list.. It's an album that has been shelved from the 90s, but got release in 2017, so it makes the cut... That PMD, NEEK, KRS, and EDO G albums are all dope overal, hence why I added them in my top 10... yeah I've heard tons of albums this year, but most of them just have like 3 or 4 good songs on them, and the rest are boring.. Yeah again this is my top 10 thus far, to just let others know as well as to spark up a convo about the doepest albums you all enjoyed the most! Respect to everyone tho!

Dopp Hopp is also one of my favorites this year. Doppelgangaz sounds better than ever!
Haven't heard OC/Apathy yet but one I have high hopes about!
Koss is also dope but not a top 10 and same I'll say about Group Home and Pmd. Both solid releases but nothing amazing.
Ran Reed is also good but got some weak tracks.
I would definitely put the new OC, Sean Price, and Masta Killa on my top 10.

personally, i can never put producer comp's or "various artists" projects in with the "top albums" list because they different to me...i dunno how to word it better, but y'all get my drift.

to me, an album is one artist(s) or group with typically one producer, maybe a feature or two, or guest produtuction...smell me?

^I get the various artists point, but why the fuck do you consider a Producer album as a "Comp"? That makes no sense. A Producer album is just as much of an album as any other.

I listened to half of these (o.c./ap, dopp hopp, group home, ran reed, neek) and didn't really like any of them, tbh....sounds strange, but I think I'm getting too old for boring, cookie cutter shit like this. just don't have the patience I used to have to even sit through a group home album, let alone even like it.

oh well.

^Group Home has always been wack. It's only cuz of the great DJ Premier beats on the first album that I have been able to listen to a whole album of them. They've had good songs here & there but this latest album is just wack (aside from the Lewis Parker produced joint).

Current albums coming out now are recorded over the course of 1-3 years on average.

An album that was recorded in the fucking 90's has NO BUSINESS being on a 2017 end of year list, especially when majority of the tracks were leaked back in the 90's. Just cause it never had an official release until 25 years later cause of label issues is irrelevant. While we argue over shit like HBO being a 2016 or 2017 album, i think most would agree an album recorded and that was supposed to be released in the mid 90's does not qualify as a 2017 album.

Your list is a sleeping pill.

Listen to Kendrick, Roc, DJ Quik + Problem if you haven't.

Pudgee is music from the 90ies. I only effs with the title track. (ill beat) Dude a wack wrapper like like like

And yeah, Group Home are horrible wrappers.

Dopp and ApO just bored me. The rest isn't even worth to speak on.

In regards to these albums...

1. milo - who told you to think
2. billy woods - known unknowns
3. jonwayne - rap album two
4. the doppelgangaz - dopp hopp
5. jam baxter - mansion 38
6. kendrick lamar - damn
7. lojii & swarvy - due rent
8. quelle chris - being you is great, i wish i could be you more often
9. open mike eagle - brick body kids still daydream
10. ol burger beats - mind games

I have checked those out, except 2 of them which I just went through, and well to be honest, I felt overall they were very boring and lacked energy and excitement. Lyrically they were ok, but if the beat doesn't make u nuts, then its hard to get into the project... feel me? just being honest... still much respect and thanks for the post...

at Decepticon_1_Galvatron

I did check out Kendrick, Roc, DJ Quik & Problem, Kendrick is a cool lyricist, but the beats he raps over are weak.. he's like another Nas if u ask me.. poor beat selection.. roc was like 50% good, and same as quik and problem, 50% good. Being 100% honest, respect on ur posting tho..

at NoMask

Dope list homie, glad u still keepin up with the hip hop world in 2017! I have been listening to hip hop since 1987 so that makes 30 years and I'm still at it, hard to believe! I was 8 years old when I started 30 years ago... so now u all know my age lol

fair enough, we obviously have very different tastes so it's not like i'm going to try and argue about it lol. to be honest though i actually find most of the albums in your top 10 to be boring. even if an album is energetic, if that energy is the same as the stuff that came before it then it's just not that exciting to me, i'd rather hear artists at least try to do something a little different personally.

exactly i hear ya man, thats why dopp hopp is in my top 10 for 2017 thus far. that album is soo left field and different, but came out as being dope! Also that's why I love quasimoto to, if u know about him. It's nice to be different, but when ur different and it comes off boring or wack, it sucks!! Perfect example would be...

TIMBALAND - different sound but incredibly dope when he came out

KANYE WEST - some of his stuff was ok, but YEZUS for example was terrible... he tried something new, and it was garbage!

Just wanna give some props to Smoovth & Giallo Point- Medellin. I don't listen to new music like I used to but I liked that album a lot. Same with Cocaine Beach. Once all the final year end lists come about I'll pick a few albums to purchase and see what new hip hop is all about.

- Yeah I checked that album, not into his flow and don't like the sound of his voice... album is just ok tho.. Like Guru says, "it's mostly the voice" lol The only album i'm excited for the remainder of the year is the new Wu-Tang - the saga continues, other than that, not really anything else.. how about u?

I was joking. The Action Bronson album is fucking terrible. He's washed up.

Wu-Tang, L'Orange, uMaNg albums the three most anticipated rest of the year. Evidence and Roc if they drop this year are up there as well.

i don't think you can place the blame solely on Rza tho, all them dudes participating are to blame collectively

Yeah I agree guys, I have no high hopes for the new Wu Tang Album... The only 2 I felt that are worth buying are 36 CHAMBERS and IRON FLAG... WU TANG FOREVER could have been good, if it was just 1 disk... too many fillers... and the rest of their albums are just bad... how bout u all?

^36 chambers might be the best album ever. wu-forever is great but too many fillers and some bad decisions and too different production wise from the debut. rza been fucking up. from the mid- late 90's when he was addicted to coke and porn and wanted to try using synths and keyboards. lol
