Maybe I'm just a grumpy grandpa then but I still don't believe they would like a track like this. I think they would say its some boring shit.
The soul is gone, the stuff they listen has nothing of that imo.

maybe you are a grumpy grandpa lol. a lot of 18-21 year olds like jazzy/soulful hip hop, you'd be surprised. big krit, mick jenkins, anderson paak, rapsody, j.i.d, & isaiah rashad are all pretty popular.

yeah i don't think you'd hear a kid play that in a park or in a public setting like that. i think that's just because it isn't turn up music though, not because they think it sucks. they probably don't think it's the place for it. mainstream music has gotten more diverse over the years so a lot of younger people have pretty eclectic tastes. maybe it doesn't seem that way because of who the most popular artists are right now or the ones getting the most buzz at the exact point in time, but most kids that age who are into hip hop don't just listen to soundcloud rappers. lil pump, lil uzi vert, xxxtentacion, ugly god, and kodak black. i think there's a good balance right now between the more "conscious" artists and the turn up/mumble rap stuff.

turn up/mumble rap can suck my dick that's some parody hip hop. I saw you make a very good list of post 00' soulful artsts/crews in a recent post and I doubt they would listen to stuff like binary stars because mostly they only listen to new stuff. Otherwise no swag. We did the opposite most of the time.

And overall the shit they listen is cheezy. The cheesier the better.

obviously a lot of that stuff is completely disposable but i honestly like some of it, i'm not mad that it exists and i don't think it's ruining hip hop or anything like that. there's a time and place for everything imo. i like the cheesy/fun hip hop every once in a while, for different reasons. there are some artists out there that cross the line though, like lil yachty. i can't even enjoy his music ironically lol.

In general kids are not getting smarter nowadays - e.g.: there are many studies that shows that they have more and more difficulties to focus in school. I bet my parents thought the same and their parents thought the same too, but I feel like this cell phone addiction combined with the mental enfeeblement of everything that is in the media is making them dumber for real because they consume a shit stain and then move on to the next shit stain all day long.
The music they listen (and thats not just limited to hip hop) can only reflect that imo. Superficial, cheesy, conditioned, no originality, straight garbage. I dont blame them irl, I actually feel sorry for them because thats the world in which they have to grow up.

There's no evidence that says kids are getting smarter or less smarter in this age. If you think that tests in school qualifies the intelligence of a child , then you're sadly mistaken and adhere to systematic indoctrinated education. Someone's choice of music has nothing to do with one's intellectual capabilities, that's your own subjective approach on today's standards of music, and even so a self defensive mechanism that threatens your ideals

that music isn't soulful, middling backpack artists made that crap in the mid 90s...only you & a handful of white dorks in estonia wanna resurrect that style...you're about 20 eras behind

just cause you're a computer programmer in belgium doesn't make you smart...you got no style and you're slow on the uptake, you're the last person anyone would ever take cues from....gtfoh

you're the type of lame white guy that frowns at people dancing & having a good time. probably got into rap in the late 90s & thought it was always some lame backpack crap...
