After 1997, 2005 onwards etc

I saw a vid of Ghost saying he stopped sampling at one point due to fear of getting sued. But he said it lost the grime quality. Which I agree cause sampling is an art of it's own.

Live instras can be tricky.

Some are dope in my books.

What are your thoughts on this?

i watched it as it happened-rzas production started losing the raw, grime quality starting after 96 with wu tang forever having a total different production style/sound and then bobby digital was even more synth based and lacking. blame sampling but they were on a decent label and could have paid for clearance if he cared enough about the art. i think its evident that rza wanted to go hollywood.

Agree with everything No Mask said.

However....

The first Bobby Digital is a hip hop classic. It wasn't the album I wanted from RZA. It was the album I needed.

Word. Thanks about The Swarm and Ghost dog.

I heard alot of thise.

The track Young Gods w Shyheim is dope. Not sure if he did the production.

It was on that Chronicles cd.

Anything else?

1992-1997 he was the complete king, then switched his style up completely.

He had what worked. I get experimeting. But if he stayed the course or if he gets back to it he'd contribute so much to rap.

Not my say tho.

Bobby digital

The W - Great produced album

What he laced for cappadonna - the pillage
Run
Blood on Blood War
MCF
Young Hearts
Pump Your Fist

The blackout album
Cereal Killer
Run 4 Cove

The World According to RZA

Iron flag had some nice joints

8 diagrams had a couple of nice tracks

Afro Samurai joints

Rza has enough singles from 2000+ to make a great album, production wise;

Ghostface Killah - Nutmeg

Ghostface Killah - Ghost Deini

Ghostface Killah feat. RZA - The Grain

Ghostface Killah - Stroke of Death

Method Man feat. Raekwon - The Turn

-9th prince Tribute To The 5th Brother

-Ghost face - Run = Classic for the streets. More noise than anything Q tip did 2000+

-Masta killa - Old man

- Method Man - Konichiwa Bitches

- Method man - Presidential M.C. = Classic rza style beat

gza - Paper Plate

Rakewon - New Wu 2008 - Huge beat from rza and still showing he can drop a great modern day classic beat. Better than any one beat q tip dropped in the past 10 years

Reakwon - Rockstars

Kanye west - Dark Fantasy - 2010 - Huge song from this last decent kanye west album. No id had assistance with arrangements , Beat was by Rza

Watch the throne - New day- 2010 - Dope song- and huge honor to be on this album.

The LOX, Ghostface Killah & Raekwon - Wu Block - 2011

Talib Kweli- 2013 - Rocket Ships

Not 1992 - 1997 but don't talk shit about losing raw, grimy quality. Nothing Holly wood about most of the above referenced tracks.

He lost the consistency, but always drops something nice when he is ready

the biggest myth in hip hop is rza fell off after 97. thats BS because some of rzas best work took place between 98-00. 99 was a tough year for him because thatw as the year he started really transitioning from analog/samples to digital and learned music theory.

supreme clientele
ghost dog
the w
bulletproof wallets
birth of a prince

are some of rzas best beats EVER. ghost dog in particular is prolly in my top 5 best produced projects by rza

Actually that whole album was pretty dope looking back 18 year later. RZA produced everything except track 10 and the bonus one at the end.

Cac - there were some Rza verses that didn't seem up to par with what he could do. Then he drops great verses.
Sunshower, Tearz, 6 Feet Deep. Etc.

He drops alot of knowledge. Correct empowering knowledge for life.

RZA best tracks are all the Wu Tang movies after 97. I would say Black N White, Ghost Dog, How High, Afro Samurai, Iron Fist. He is cashing on tracks and his fellow members of Wu Tang. That brother will never have to do labor work ever. He is good.
