Episode 14 is the first installment of our West Coast Classics. Dust off those Chucks, throw on your khakis and strap-in for this for this west side roller-coaster ride. We got tunes from N.W.A., Ice T, Too $hort, King Tee, DJ Quik, Digital Underground, Above The Law, 2Pac, Cypress Hill, W.C., Murs, Kurupt, People Under The Stairs, MC Eiht, Nate Dogg, The Game, Ras Kass, The B.U.M.S., plus special tributes to Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre, Hieroglyphics and The Likwit Crew. Keep it locked, cuz the TIP crew is just getting started on this WCC series and even though there is a lot to cover, we tackle this muthf*cker like Lyle Azado.

west coast at its finest.

Of course. Being that we’re trying to cover (most) of the West Coast, we wanted to present the first installment as kinda an earlier timeline of progression. Actually, next episode (due 9/11) will feature a Freestyle Fellowship tribute. There is also one covering some of the earlier ABB releases, of course, Planet Asia, Encore, Rasco, etc. But throughout each installment will be the obvious. We have a ridiculous Ice Cube set. One for Cypress. So, yeah, a lot of the stuff you’ve heard time and time again, but it’s more about how these sets are done. The nuances, the mixes, the weaving in and out. Take the Hieroglyphics or Likwit mix on Episode 14 for example. I mean, when you talk about indie in West Coast, it probably doesn’t get any bigger than Hiero. So much to cover, Bay Area especially.

Prolly not a lot of New aged DPGC stuff will be on this. To me, if you want DPG you gotta go with the classics like Big Pimpin, DPG For Life, NY NY, Respect or tap into the solo stuff like Hardest Muthafuckas, On Grind, Raw, Who Ride With Us. Cali Iz Active was a cute post 2000 single.
