Origin of the name came from people thinking Mandela died in jail , watching his funeral on TV. Other people thought he ran for president.

I thought the theory was bull shit till I researched it.

Mandela effects:
Berenstain Bears
"Luke I'm am your father/ no, I am your father"
"Life is like a box.../ life was Like a box"
"It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood/ it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood"

And there was a bombing during the start of the 1st world war where the statue of liberty was destroyed. No one has heard of this.

Some say its Cern bringing in other realities from parallel universes.
Other say it's the new quantum computers called the D wave they have.

Watch the lectures on this new quantum computers. They mapped the entire universe in 5 minutes. If they took all the silicon from the earth for computer chips, it still would only have 1/100th of the power of a d wave.

Statue of Liberty wasn't destroyed, the torch was. And it wasnt bombed, it was an explosion on a pier after German saboteurs set fire to an ammunition store.
Weirdly, i know about this.

Yeah, I heard of that. Groups of people agree on different versions of history. Could be reality getting shredded to pieces. Or maybe it just goes to show how people will regurgitate whatever is fed to them through the TV and how little they care about factual details. This was on QI iirc. The phenomena that is, not the entirely speculative totally technophobic Cern connection.

Fact checking in entertainment is not the number one priority for producers. Misquotations and other forms of misrepresentation of the truth happen all the time.
Human memory is fragile. We're socially suggestible in forming our world view. Group think is a powerful force.
These premises are not controversial. Combine them and you'll find that the Mandela effect is unnecessary. It might be plausible, but if there's no way to test it, then it can never be more than purely hypothetical. Interesting thought though, to think we're all from different parallel universes. And in some sense we already are, if you consider the subjectivity of consciousness. Philosophically it's reminiscent to post modernism in that it suggests we're all correct in our own right. But ultimately it's utterly useless to ponder the legitimacy of it as it's not testable and it's easily explained by social dynamics.

Yeah you're probably right .
But who's to say that manipulating quantum reality doesn't exist. China is building a 10 billion dollar quantum computer that is 100000x more powerful than any other quantum computer

"Mind-Boggling!" --China is Building a Quantum Computing Center that Dwarfs Any in Existence Today
October 14, 2017

Quantum computers have the potential to solve problems that would take a classical computer longer than the age of the universe. According to Oxford University physicist, David Deutsch, quantum computers can efficiently render every physically possible quantum environment, even when vast numbers of universes are interacting. Quantum computers can also efficiently solve certain mathematical problems, such as factorization, which are classically intractable, and can implement types of cryptography which are classically impossible. Quantum computation is a qualitatively new way of harnessing nature.

China is building a huge US $10 billion research center for quantum applications with the ultimate goal of creating a quantum computer with a million times the computing power of all others presently in the world.
The new super center, called the National Laboratory for Quantum Information Sciences, nearly 4 million square feet will be built in Hefei, Anhui Province. It reportedly has two major research goals: quantum metrology and building a quantum computer whose mind-boggling power dwarfs anything in the world today reports Popular Science.

Quantum computing taps the ability of subatomic particles to exist in more than one state at any given time. This allows processing to occur at vastly faster rates while consuming less energy than current computers. This enormous increasing in computing power is expected to propel artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to new levels.

"manipulating quantum reality"

What does that even mean?

"Quantum Reality

Modern physicists do not have a single picture of "the way the world really is;" instead there are eight ideas of "quantum reality." These eight views of reality are quite different; yet all are considered by leading scientists to be valid, or a least successful in terms of explaining experiments.
Worldviews of Prominent Physicists and Philosophers

There is no deep reality.
Reality is created by observation.
Reality is an undivided wholeness.
Reality consists of a steadily increasing number of parallel universes.
The world obeys a non-human kind of reasoning.
The world is made of ordinary objects.
Consciousness creates reality.
The world is twofold, consisting of potentials and actualities
Scientists will admit that quantum theories do not correspond to "common sense"---meaning, the law of cause and effect. The principal features of quantum theory contradict "cause and effect" relationships by assuming that random, spontaneous events can and do occur within a quantified limit (specified by the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle).

The majority of leading modern physicists seriously believe the first view; "There is no deep reality" and claim that there is no objective reality. For them, "physics is not physical, but metaphysical"

I'm not gonna let you pull me into some pointless debate
