The Atkins Diet
I've been hearing and seeing too much about this...I would like to make a note about the Atkins or low carb diet...
carbs are essential intake for humans...the minimal amounts the Atkins diet suggests eating is downright unhealthy...to lose weight it definitely DOES work...I did it to shred up 2 years ago, so I know...but according to Atkins, you are to keep carbs below 40 grams a day...that equals about ONE piece of white bread...which makes your food selection basically non-existent unless you wanna drink milk all day and eat nothing but meat...i mean, shit i love meat but cmon now...a meal of protein with no rice or bread is not gonna fill u up or satisfy you..
for all yall doing this shit, you must realize that you will have NO energy to do any activities for more than 20 minutes...when i was cuttin out carbs I couldnt lift weights for more than 25 minutes before id feel like passing out...also as a boxer, nutritionally, 65 percent of my daily intake is supposed to come from carbs...
did you know that a human can survive for 2 months with nothing else but water and sugar??? That says something about the necessity of carbs in our diet...
Just be concious about what kind of carbs you eat and when...Cut back on bread and white rice...after a certain time...eat your carbs (bread, rice, potatoes) for LUNCH, and a little for breakfast such as cereal...
You must also realize about the Atkins diet...You can eat nothing but slim jims for 3 months and look like the Soloflex guy...wow great...but once you start eating carbs again, all the cuts and leanness you gained from the low carb diet will dissapear faster than Sagat and his hit song "Why is it?"

I agree with smooth. Atkins sucks.
The three essential macro nutrients are protein, fats, and carbs. you need all three to function properly. any crash diet (typically eliminating one of these macros) will help you lose weight immediately. although the weight will be water, fat and muscle.
if you're really interested in carbs, yahoo for Low GI and High GI carbs.
yea eating no carbs is unhealthy as shit
not to mention you will smell like shit from all that meat, and feel like shit because you need carbs for energy
eating isnt hard...limit fat and sugar to very low levels, watch carbs (as in dont eat a fuckin bag of pretzels) and drink lots of water
My mother is close to 60 and has been on this diet for over a month now. She says she feels fine and I think she looks alot better. I lift weights all the time and have decided to limit my carbs as well to shed fat. The key is to get all your carbs in early in the day. You shouldnt have any carbs after 6pm. I agree cutting white bread and white rice is key. Substitute whole what and brown rice.
