Compression, Reverb, Delays
I decided to use one of my beats for this one...It's called 33rd Strikes Again...This one would be even more dope if I knew how to f*ckin mix the song properly...Could somebody give me a hand on this one please...
I don't know what the hell I'm doin here...
i don't know how to really teach you.. i'm teaching shawn how to engineer.. i took him down to the big studio put him behind a nice neve console, setup the session and told him to mix it.. he's aight.. he has a good ear, but doen't know about panning to much.. but i'ma get him..
as for you... I'ma hands on person.. i can't just talk you through it.. i've been doing this for 7 years now.. i learned off all the time and work.. i'll see what i can do for ya.. if you want me to mix let me know i'm off tomorrow..
you got the number, holla
Thanks for the feedbacks Ills...You right about the panning thing, it sound kinda stupid now that I listen...And cuz you gotta teach me some tricks about reverb and shit sorta like the Dre-Eminem thing...Teach me some of this sh*t so I know what to do sometimes and what to listen for...
The only part I wasn't really feeling is the double vocal panned in the left speaker. I guess I just like the old fashioned double at the end of each line. Still tight, though.
White Owl Bundy, that "33rd Strikes Again" shit is nice!
yea and you wouldn't believe what my cousin uses either.. the man got production skills
i'm impressed. i havent heard anyone post some actual quality shit in a long time on this site. big ups. u got the best shit i've heard on this site. well at least from the shit i've heard from beat threads.
well when working digital to many ppl eq with their eyes vs their ears....
you have to use your ears. monitors will help a lot too..
the only eq's i use:
Waves LinEq, Waves Req, Pultec Eq(mackie uad-1), and sometimes voxengo curve eq... sonically and digitally.. not to many eq's sound better than these.. the pultec is the cleanest no doubt..
the 319, its not a bad mic.. but if you don't have a good mic preamp for it.. its not really gonna sound much better than a cheap dynamic mic..
i'ma see what kinda deal i get on a avalon 737.. if i get it.. i'll send you the 401 i'm using now.. it sounds good and has a compressor/gate/desser. my neumann tlm193 sound great with it, so i see no reason why your 319 won't sound good.. the pre is a lil bright and thats all good for the 319 seeing that it has a dark sound
if you want, you lay the tracks.. i'll mix them and send um back through sx.. i got a lil time on my hands for about 2 weeks.. then i'ma be producing 2 15 song albums, so i'ma be ghost... don't track to hot, keep some headroom and be sure your tracking your vox mono....
That BS mic I showed you, I was gonna get the mic pre this weekend but didn't go and I used SX...You gotta hit me up with some of those EQ set ups and whatever cuz...Long Beach, good looks for listenin fam...As far as the collab, let me know somethin...
yo what did you use???
the vox sound like your in a hole..
holla at me cutty .. if you wanna do the mix on your own i'll look out for you... if not.. i'll mix it.keep in mind if your using SX your not gonna be able to open my mix b/c i use Nuendo 2.....
one thing about mixing.. you have to know how to design eq's,set compression, gates, reverb etc..
having flat monitors, a room with good acoustics and just knowing how to mix is it too
yo ive always been a fan of your shit man, keep up the good work, sounds good to me, i think we should collabo some time peace
