To the writers
Do you listen to music when you write?
i'll be goddamned if i get caught because i couldnt hear jake over my walkman
i almost always sketch to music though
realwriters.com sells a graffiti mixtape... songs by krs, the arsonists, the artifacts, co flow.. dope shit, i already have every song off it on another recording though
I sometimes find music distracting, though once in awhile I'll throw on an instrumental and let it repeat over and over.
I get a lot of ideas from music. But I don't write music and I'm not deeply into writing rhymes (therefore I don't have to worry about ripping shit from another).
i thought you meant graffiti writers
Music can give you ideas, but you also be subliminally biting shit. I can concentrate better when the shit is off.
I listen to music all day, every day, til the day I die.
i listen to music when i write, but not hip-hop; instead, i prefer to listen to some alternative pop-rock; Matthew Sweet, for example, or maybe some Garbage. it's either calming or enraging, and i can look at my words and see how the music influenced me subtly. i actually tossed together phrases off of a MS album once, came out kind of interesting, though if you haven't heard of Matthew Sweet it was just pointless. since i'm assuming most here haven't, i won't bore you...
incidentally, instrumentals work too, espec. video game music in symphonic form. final 1 for 8-bit nintendo was done symphonically... i have mp3... email me if you want to get hooked up.
you can't outfox me-
