Help With MICS!!
What is a good quality, but low cost mic. Im not looking for something more than like $150 or so...is that reasonable?
SM 58, can't go wrong there. You can get them at pawn shops out here in Seattle for $80. SM 57's are hot too. Most people don't like them for vocals, and they ARE better for instruments, but I like them. They're hot as fuck, clear as you can get (in your price range) and they look cool. I think it's the better of the two for overall versatility. Again, try and get one used. I haven't noticed mic's getting "old." They either work or they don't. And if they don't work, it's probably just because one of the connections on the inside broke. Solder it up and you're back in business, these are simple tools.
Check out the Audio Technica C-1000. It's not really known as a vocal mic, but it is a condenser mic, and I know people (The Anonymous) who have used it as a vocal mic with some very good results. You can get them for around $175.
The Shure SM-58 is a classic for live vocals, or for guitar amp or snare, and I've used it for years, but it's not a studio pro level vocal mic. You need a condenser mic if you want a more professional sound.
I got a shure SM58
probably the best mic in it's class
it isn't really a studio mic
but it is one of the best for live performances and shit like that
However it'll hope up pretty well for recording with
but i don't recommend it for studio quality recording
you'll need something a little better
yeah i've heard good shit about shure mics...thanks
personally i'd go with tha Shure Beta 58A, its a little bit over your budget... $169.95, but i heard its pretty ill. i'm gonna pick one up. Shure mics are pretty respectible, also you might wanna check any audio-technica mics...I hoped i helped.
