If Commercial Mc's are Wack then why do so many people like Them?
Ayo foreal mad cats on this board hate on so called " Commercial" cats. But if they were so wack then why do so many copp there albums and respect them? I mean there are a ton of dope Underground Mc's who should be signed to a major label. But i think mad cats on this board can't relate at all to what alot of the Commercial Mc's are sayin. Cuz alot of yall are probably from Suburbs and shit and don't know to much about streetlife. Im not sayin that im a Thug but i know enough about the Street to be able to somewhat relate to what cats like Jay-z,Biggie, 2Pac, Kurupt, Mobb Deep etc. are sayin. I say that u don't gotta like em but you should at least respect them. Cuz they are rhymin for cats in the Streets. They don't make there music for Suburban Cats to relate to thats what Anticon is for. And i guarentee if u went to any Urban City and or Project or Ghetto and said that someone like DMX was wack u would get jacked foreal. Cuz cats out there relate to what there sayin.
Math: That's not true. Nowadys artists do appear overnight without paying any dues. You're telling me you knew who DMX was before he was signed to Def Jam?
That comment (by someone) about Tupac's a real thug. Who cares? Thugs are stupid. Thugs are not cool boys and girls. Who wants to be a gangster. Not anyone who's smart. Unfourtunatly "poor people" are often forced into that (criminal) lifestyle. They're obviouslly not uneducated enough to WANT to be drug dealing gangsters. (or are they??)
its because the masses are ignorant
most people are stupid
by the way... it's not like artists just start out "commercial", is it? i mean, guys like DMX or Ja Rule, who most of you would consider commercial, it's not like they just came out of nowhere and sold tons of records... they were underground too at one point... you can't be underground and be listened to by everyone...
i live in a rich suburb and dmx just moved in next door. i swear. apparently he's been holding down the corner market and thinking he's the poop. i'm gonna call him earl when i get home.
2pac wasnt street....he didnt even know brenda or her baby....fuckin dancer
but you can relate to making holy water boil???? Hey , its like this, hip hop is so big now that it has different genre's. Look at rock music, its not just all rock, people who listen to "limp bizkit" don't like "hootie and the blow fish". etc. etc.
Its too big to be just hip-hop. To each his own do whatcha like and don't knock the next mans hustle. And hey, about the pac comment, dancing for DU. So what. Does that make him not a thug? Because he danced for a group? I guarantee you that if you stepped to him and called him out on that, he woulda yolked your ass.--- thats thug.
I live in Portland,Or. Just for the record, I never said that I lived in the ghetto. I never meant to imply it either.
I have lived in several rougher parts of this city, but none of them have had a large percentage of minorties living there. There are ghettos that are highly populated by blacks and latinos here also. But this town is really white to begin with. (But it is like D.C. compared with the rest of this state)
The majority of people listen to brainless stupid music because the majority of people are brainless and stupid.
PS I love internet gangstas who log onto the internet from the ghetto. (?)
"this bullshit, is SO bullshit, I never wanna hear this bullshit on the radio again, or in my children's ears"
Just because something is commercially accepted doesn't make it wack. It is a thing's content that makes it wack (in the individuals opinion).
You know, I don't get why anybody argues about this shit. Do we all really expect to argree %100 on who we think is dope?
Does the fact that, say, I might not dig Eminem as much as you do REALLY concern you? Why do people actually seem to try and change other kids minds on this type of shit? Stop telling each other you're gay herbs over these miniscule differences of opinion.
All that aside, DMX is wack as fuck, and anybody that likes his shit is a fucking huge gay homosexual herb from the streets in the suburbs of the country.
People follow trends like sheep..be it music,clothes,attitudes..whatever
When you look at it from this perspective
you will see that Feminem is really vanilla spice with a bad attitude,Fluff-faddy is really MC Stammer with goofier teeth and wacker dances,(while disgrace(mase) is his 2 Lisp MC,Pissy Elliot is just a fatter(much) Mc Lyte and Latifah,DMX is Timdog with more of a bark(woof),The Fagstreet boys are more gayer New Kids and Sticky Martin is the new Gerado,Icey blu is Eve..and Will smith??...mmmmmmmmmmm He's like the ahhhh...
Haahhhahhhha..come on y'all know this funny
i wanna know where highme lives.cause if anybody is from a crazy ghetto its me.ever seen gummo?if not then u wouldnt understand.if u have seen gummo then go ahead and laugh,i would.i went to high school with harmony koren.
"shooting videos at homes that you know they'll never own."
Mighty Mos Def
Of course it's not just you. It doesn't matter if you can relate to an artist or not, though it helps, but a dope MC is a dope MC. You know, I've lived in the burbs and the city, so I can relate to almost anything. But I still don't dig most of the shit that's popular. But it's not cause of that it's my taste, not everyone who doesn't like an MC is a hater, y'all have to understand that.
I don't know. I can understand having trouble relating to that commercial shit. Not because I'm from the burbs or the streets, but because I never lounge by the pool in my private Costa Rican villa with hookers in bikinis while I sip some expensive champagne and look at the time on the six different "iced-out" watches I'm wearing.
Is it just me?
Ayo Bang!bang first off if Arsonists were on TRL it would truly be a great day for hip-hop and music in general. And ease up with the cracker shit, I hate it when racist whites use the n word, and I know whites on here feel the same when you say cracker every other word. So ease up, get off it.
Uhhh, because it's a fad. You don't know the difference between respect and wanting to be in with the times.
Yo whats with the racist shit bangbang? geez...anyway, artists who are "commercial" got that way through promotion and exposure to the general public; MTV,BET, radio, various magazines....
From what i can tell, most commercial music pays little attention to the lyrics of the songs, and more to the appeal that their song/album will get from the general public...This is no good, because lyrics are the MOST important part of the song! (to me at least)(the beat fuckin helps express em though). Most "hip-hop heads" who like Master P and Juvenile like them most likely because of their "bangin beats" and could care less about the lyrics.
I mean, have you ever heard someone say, "Man, Mystikal is a fuckin deep lyricist...he can freestyle all night....he can flow on and on...." haha, no way.
Same goes with all of those cash money and no limit mcs.
Anyway, i dont think Mobb Deep is commercial, but if they are, i like their music....I guess if an artist gets a video, they are dubbed "commercial" by people, thats kinda f**ked up. I definitely respect all the mcs doing their thing(except the guy who does Bling Bling), and wish them all luck selling their records to screaming girls.
thats all i want to say.
the reason they like that wak commercial shit is simple......because theyre wak.....they dont use there eyes at all, the just listen wo whatever is out on the radio....people like us go out and struggle to get out music and when we get it we listen to it, we dont hear music like they do, we actually get into the words, thats the differnce....u heard fagets like hay-z rhyming about money and hoes 24/7 while people like ikon and jus allah are rhyming there asses off with shit like "I brong the type of horror that boils ya holy water"....dope lyrical shit and they dont ge shit out of it!!!!!!!!!!!
real intelligent bang...
popular MCs are just that POP music...they're not making music for hiphop fans but pop music fans. before someone starts screaming cracker this and whitey that....black people listen to pop music just like white people. they color of your fan base has nothing to do with your sincerity, in this case, to hiphop.
