i just wanted to make something clear from the last post about tdot bitches and how kardinall and prev got down at the show. i wasnt trying to start beef, like i said in the post, canada has a lot of talent and were to small to be fighting amongst ourselves, we need to help eachother out. second thing is, i wasnt saying anything about my city is more ghetto, i mean we all live in canada and its a real nice place, we have bad spots but nothing compared to the states. i just have a problem with tdot artists (some, not all) always talking ghetto this, im from the PJ's, when you know it aint like that. im not knocking TO, i know theres shit there too, im just saying were all lucky to be living in a nice country. anyway, just wanted to clarfiy cuz most peeps took shit the wrong way, but peace and mad props to all canadian bboys, mc's, dj's and writers putting us on the map!! one day our time will come. PEACE!!
Only a few Canadian artists rap about them being a thug and from the ghetto and those are the artists trying to blow up in the states (sad but true mad peepz want to hear that shit) The rest of the artists in Canada keep it real and make some of the tightest music around.
do people even read my shit?? i never said anything about more ghetto!! where are you getting this from? alright ill make it real simple:
point 1: canada has alot of good talent.
point 2: we are not americans.
point 3: we need to identify ourselves in a original way, not just rehashing american themes such as ghetto life, thugging, robbing, etc.
point 4: in a general sense canada is a nice place to live, yes we have ghettos but they are not on the scale of american ones.
point 5: im talking about music!!!!!!!!!!
all im saying is canada is starting to get some limelight in the hiphop world, instead of getting buried underneath loads of other artists talking bout the same ol, same ol, lets be original, were not american so lets present ourselves as canadians, what goes on in canada, in your city, how you feel as a canadian etc. all the videos on TV like choclair, infinite, ghetto concept, etc. are all the same landing in a helicopter, handing off briefcases, im tying to be a gangster type shit, its tired, its old, its boring. lets get our own, lets not just be little brother but something new and original, we have the talent, different ideas, ways of thinking, our own problems, lets deal with'em and represent right. no disrespect rock, hopefully this clears up what im tyring to say. peace.
It's pretty ignorant to be arguing about who's ghetto has more drama.
Read my post again...it's pretty straight forward. I don't live in the ghetto...but if a T-DOT artist wants to rap about the ghetto...who cares??
Those artists are from a T-Dot ghetto and yes I'm willing to bet that any U.S. ghetto has more drama...big deal...a ghetto is still a ghetto...get it.
most talented and best hip-hop group in canada=Bomb Shelta Association.
Hey Rock, a place doesn't have to be "the ghetto" to have murders. I don't front like I'm from the ghetto. I'm from West Vancouver. One of the richest areas in Canada. My neighbour got shot in the head while sitting in his car in his driveway a while back. That has nothing to do with economics. Let's get this ghetto subject out of the way. Who cares? Canada=Nice Place To Live
The West Coast (BC) and the East Coast (Nova Scotia) of Canada have the freshest hiphop scenes. I personally don't like the sound of alot of Ontario hiphop. Ghetto Concept is wack. I have to admit, Saukrates, and Da Grassroots are both dope as fuck producers and Sox is also a fly MC and singer. I'm not "hating on T.O" for not liking most of the other groups out of Toronto. I'm not really feeling the Rascalz at all either. I used to like them, but I realized I liked them because of were they're from rather than the skill they have.
no disrespect taken, im just saying we all have our spots, east hastings in vancouver is the worst spot in all of canada, i lived only a few blocks away. ill shit happens all over, but in all reality that dude may have been blasted but people get blasted like that daily in areas in the states. compared to what our "bad" situations are like they are nothing compared to our brothers down south. i feel like its a bit of a misrepresentation, im not dogging it we all go thru hard times but thugging in canada? its pretty weak. instead of rapping about shit like that, lets just keep it real, keep it hiphop, aint nothing wrong about coming from a decent country, im proud to be canadian, we dont have to emulate what goes on down south, we got our own thing and we should represent ourselves. im pretty happy with how canadian artists are doing, i feel like theve been good ambassadors, i just think the ghetto shit is a little played and a little direspectful to peeps who really have to live in the killing fields daily. peace!!
No disrespect...but these cats who rap about the ghetto (from the T-DOT) are from there.
That "ghetto" track that Kardinal does is a comedy track anyway.
Any T-DOT cats remember that murder on Yonge St.? The guy was shot in the head from point blank range....blood and brain matter everywhere...ill sh*t. I was there, and I hope I never see that sh*t again.
