For All You Triton Haters Out There....
yall are on crack!!!
go check out the Triton vs Mo Phatt thread for my reasons on why this is the best workstation ever.
real sampling, automap recycle for chopping, akai cd importing, rompler, expansion boards, MOSS virtual analog synthesis, tight sequencer, touch screen, joystick, ribbon controller....
like i mentioned earlier, im not the type of lamer that'll be like "that shits wack,my shits better". so here is just a sample of sum tight beats made solely on the Triton (no samples).

i have the triton, and all of my production is 100% sampled. the wave editor is a million times better than the mpc, asr, etc. with a touch of the 3"x3" screen i can zoom in, out, left, right, normalize, truncate, etc...i don't have to go through a million steps just edit my sample.....any way i feel as if the triton has 2 to 3 times as many features as some sampling drum machines and it is more user friendly.....THE BOTTOM LINE IS IT'S NOT WHAT YOU USE IT'S HOW YOU USE IT!!!!!
the features im talking about are related to the sounds...you want synth sounds check out the stock&expansion boards, you want realistic sounds: load up a sample CD, you want analog sounds - pop in the MOSS board.
with proteus you are more limited, the stock sounds and expansion boards are oriented towards either the techno scene or the cheezy hihop phatt crap...
in the end, use whatever u like, sound is a subjective thing...but you cant front on facts, thats why im talkin features.
what do you all think of the rolad xp 30?
man EMU has TONS of expansion slots too..im not comparing the features of the proteus to the triton, im comparing the sounds...the p2k isnt a workstation..
well at least we agree on ONE thing hahaha...
to get back at the issue. ok, you dont like the Triton stock sounds. fine thats your right. I'll prolly get tired of them after a while as well (as i do with ANY rompler).
But i got the possibility of using the hundreds of akai sound libraries out there, and for example ,BOOM,load a 64megabyte Fender Rhodes patch, with 6 velocity layers and no looping point, when you'll be stuck with your played out 650ko PhatRhodez EP patch !! And believe me,no expansion board will give u as much quality sounds than that...
enjoy ur sounds while u can pal....!!!
na man see...those beats are real synthy sounding....
and sine we are comparing the triton to the emu heres a beat i made with all stock proteus sounds...
now which one sounds better?
just because someone uses samples or doesnt make thin synthed out beats doesnt mean they are stuck in 94, btu i do agree, mad heads on this board are so far in a dark cave of old hiphop they will never get out.
man, u represent everything i hate about wack ass backpackers....lol
if ur not into keyboard beats, obviously ur not gonna dig these...so dont even bother checkin em out. "all of them have that synth sound" ...yea no shit doc. i can produce hard eastcoast chopped up shit by the ton, with my MPC alone, but this aint about that.
this is for those of yall that are into using synthesizers for your productions. Its a whole different ballgame, and a whole different skill. I purposely restrained myself from using samples so you could get an idea of some of the stock sounds u could add to your productions (obviously this thing has a full blown sampler, so it would be stupid not to use it).
btw, if ya dont like the stock sounds, nothing prevents you from getting an Akai library CDrom of a Bosendorf piano, or of a classical orchestra...etc
u gotta move with ur time, some of yall r just stuck in 94....

well, boy did you completely disprove your point to all triton haters out there, like me. I listened to your beats and boy they made me remember what I HATE about the triton. All of them have that synth sound that comes from sample free production. Your beats represent everything I hate about modern hiphop production. Not that the actual music was bad, but the sounds bring up memories of swizz beatz and cash money sounds that I wish I could forget. thanks
