'Sup with Ya'll
I started interning at a Pro studio just 2 days a week and I've learned more in two weeks about the music business, engineering, hardware vs. Software, going to school for this and just music then I've learned ever.
What progress have you made to make better music or reach your dreams? Buy a new piece of equipment, learn a new technique, make a new contact, understand a new concept?
what i'm noticing is the jay dee beats i like the most are the ones where he loops breaks or at least programs shit to sound like a break.. i hope he keeps that shit up more, its awesome
heres one for you fellows... what do you know about making beats in pro tools? no other equipment, just a hdr type program. that friends, is gangsta. heads = not ready for saw pro
Yeah ezel I'm telling peeps...
That shit is tight!! He's DEFINITELY better at lyrics.. And to me, for a tight producer, his lyrics are just fine.. HE rides his beats PERFECTLY!! That MOVE shit is hott too!!
Check out mo' dawg.. 4real.. I think he heard niggas complainin' about the lyrics and now he's on a mission to prove 'em wrong..
I love it!:)
Make the beat then drop it to protools and go from there. Usualy when I seel A beat we just drop into protools via midi. if I want to change sumthen anything or add a sound it's simple. Gotta know some protools

words to live by...
awesome, i'll have to come through and check you cats soon. its really a revelation when you use pro tools for the first time, huh coop? i love the shit.. when i get a little cheese i'm going to get a small pro tools setup at the pad. good stuff.
Aight so many but one lessons learned this week is that you can do anything if you really do your home work, learn how to talk to people and are professional in your approach and persistent. School or no School.
In terms of software, if there is one software you just have to learn if you plan to work in a pro studio it's Protools. The full protools system is just sooo dope. Host based softwares just can't mess with it.
Those are more on the Engineering tip more then the production side of things.

The pro's use alot of the same pre production equipment we all use. It's the engineers who've got that next level ish.
Ezel, I'm at the Stank one with Nodoze.
not to get too off topic.. but fuck the police by jay dee is very very very dope, his rapping doesnt even detract too much from the beat either
Well like mentioned before...
Only TWO mo' weeks of this job and I'm a starving artist!! haha!!
Not literally, but I won't be working.. In that time I'll be taking INTENSE piano lessons.. I wanna freak more keys on my ASR.. That will definitely elevate my skills.. Other than that keep listening to Stereolab, Jamiroquai, and JayDee!!
Tight shit Coopah!
I'm thinking of doing the same at this indie label named ThrillJockey.. All these CHicago avant-garde groups are on there as well as All Natural.. So hopefully I'll be able to use that as an avenue for them to hear my beats and give some of my artist's deals..
That would be tight!!!:)
to make better music i listen to better music, and keep doing what i do until my game elevates a bit.. even though i think my first 100% sampled beat is still one of my best, i think i've come a real long way since i started.
for me, its just listening to more and more music, different genres and all that. mostly old stuff. see how those cats got down, and apply what they did to my own work.
what studio are you at coop?
this sounds corny but i just think fo shit in my head and do it......like i knew how i was going to record and edit my songs before i even touched a piece of recording gear or even read abotu it...i just knew the processes some how by listening to music...ive learned a lot but id say i pretty much as natural at enigineering...as far as beats i dont know im almost liking recording more....but im still banging out beats..
So What's the deal?
Bless us Coop
