I just saw The Matrix for the first time
Yo I just saw the Matrix last night and all I can say is the movie was ill. The way Keneau slowed down the bullets and made them fall out of the air was phat. And that subway scene was just tight. What did yall think, I say this is movie of the year forget Star Wars. Is there a part two coming out?
The Matrix is a metaphor. The special effects were a tool to make it more accessible and more profitable (and judging by the effect it had on some of you, it wuldn't have been very successful any other way).
The story parallels our lives as we are trapped in to a world that is devoid of meaning. It might as well be false and our experiences might as well be electronic impulses because they are as potent (or as impotent) as such. The schism between our work and its products is huge. Our only solacce is through things that are, in their quintessential sense, artificial. Either it's through soul-less corporate art, passive entertainment, sex as game, drugs and alcohol, and/or the pursuit of commodities. When people decide to live outside of this system (or they attempt to), they become weird outsiders to others. They sometimes wish they could go back to being a normal fake person that watches pro sports and is excited by MTV and steak, but the choices that they've made in their lives and the decisions that they've made prevent that from ever being possible.
You have been transformed.
Maybe I swallowed the wrong pill.
I envy those agents...then can kick anyones ass and look like anyone can kick their ass.
if you dug the matrix, check out Dark City. it's better. matrix bit and went commercial. dark city is underground. keep it real.
I just saw it, too. My brother made me watch in when I went home for Christmas.
Definitely better than Star Wars. But I didn't think it was really that deep. Mr. Fishburn was good -- what else is new, who's a better actor than him. This seems like the kind of movie that certain people (i.e. not my kind of folks) will take to heart and build up a quasi-religious fanaticism around.
not bad, though.
The shit is deep.
"Coming Up For Air" - Bless
The Matrix was great. There are supposed to be two sequels in the works, both with Keanu Reeves.
yes, this movie was definatley one of my favorites. The special effects were just unfuckingbelievable. Laurence Fishburn did a excellent job at playing Morpheus.
